About this listen

The number-one New York Times best-selling author of Infected delivers medieval carnage as a pre-industrial society fights extinction at the hands of a massive infestation of Xenomorphs.

Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. To save humanity, the trio must fight their way to the tunnels of Black Smoke Mountain - the lair of the mythical Demon Mother.

Medieval Warfare & Aliens!

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the writing was very clever and had a unique world building style. The world building took place through the characters and their experiences that felt real and historical despite being on an alien world.

I was impressed by the reading. He gave good performances for the different characters which each had their own unique voices. I was impressed with his annoying teenager voice.

Scott has managed to make the situation seem so real and visceral that I could not help but think that this was Game of Thrones/Vikings meets aliens. This book needs to be read. This book could easily be a movie or a TV series.

There is a teen empowerment element too. They are the sound voices so they are not annoying for a change. :)

Great story, Great author and solid performance!

Loved it! Now waiting for my next Xenomorph fix!

I loved this addition to the Alien universe. I've listened to several of the other books and liked the direction this one took with a more primitive society having to deal with the Xenomorphs. I think it really made it different.

Great listen. Nice departure from the usual

Really enjoyed this, was glued to the headphones for a few days. Some aspects pretty familiar, if you liked other books in the Alien universe, you will probably like this also. Good premise and the story was well told. I loved the dynamics of considering how a more primitive civilization could fare against the Xenomorphs. If anything, I think I would have enjoyed a trilogy with more character development and world-building. It felt like a lot (and a lot more potential) crammed into one book.

Well narrated with good characters

Highly recommend this as something a bit different within the alien canon. Well narrated with a good range of voice inflections for different characters. This and Cold Forge are the two best audiobooks in my opinion.

What an incredible story, please do another one !

loved it, as a fan of Alien and of Old style warfare this was going to be good, to be honest it was fair better then I hoped, The writing kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved our three main characters, thank you and I hope you write another one based on this world.

Surprising and refreshing take on Alien

I was a little hesitent on getting the book, I've been let down so many times on the amazing universe first carved out in Alien and Aliens. But nothing seemed to ever meet me expectations following these much loved stories. I'm pleased go say this hit the spot. The book starts and seems a little flat from a narration perspective but stay with it, Bronson does an amazing job of brining the characters to life. Exceptional book and a must have for any fan of the Alien universe, and an outstanding performance from Bronson.

A great addition to the Alien universe

I was a tad dubious that our beloved Zenomorphs fighting medieval man would be a strong storyline… I was wrong.

The extremely detailed world building and beautifully unfolding storyline sets this up as a magnificent listen.

Give it a go. It will be well worth it.

Surprising twist near the end

I found it a fascinating story. The effect of the alien population on human society and the ensuing power struggles. Vocal performance was very strong bringing the characters to life and allowing you to empathise.
