Born to Betty and George Sumrall of New Orleans on February 15, 1913, Lester Frank Sumrall's cold-hearted brawler father considered him an "accident", telling him bluntly, "You weren't supposed to be here." Reared in the Deep South he showed early in life the resourcefulness and leadership attributes that comprised his remarkable 83-year life and 65-year ministry of the Gospel of Christ.

In his penetrating manner, the author seeks to capture the flavor and essential meaning of this most holy foundation: "the foundation of the apostles and prophets." With the current abundance of those "who call themselves apostles" (Rev. 2:2), it is refreshing to have a plumb-line from Heaven that will not only greatly enable God's people to correctly discern the true apostle from the false, but also challenge the core of their foundations in God.

That book exposes the widespread problem of authoritarian abuse that has been flourishing virtually unabated for decades since it was first infused into the very fabric, foundation, and functions of the Charismatic/Neo-Pentecostal church during the false movement known as the Discipleship/Shepherding Movement (1970-77).

Unpacked as it is by the author, this book is a virtual "Christianity 101," in that it puts the entire "big picture" of the Christian experience and life into proper perspective, unveils many insights into the how the Kingdom of God operates on Earth, and answers many common questions regarding God and the Kingdom of God.

I have selected for my subject this afternoon the blessed hope. We are told to be ready to give a reason for the hope we have within us, and what we want to do is to find out what our hope is. I believe there are a great many people who are hoping and hoping, when they have no ground for hope. I don't know of any better way to find out whether we have true ground for the hope we have within us than to look in scripture to see what the scripture has to say.

For two to be in agreement implies something more than to agree in theory, or in understanding, for we often see persons who agree in theory, but who differ vastly in feeling and practice. Their understandings may embrace the same truth, while their hearts and practice will be very differently affected by them. Saints and sinners often embrace in theory the same religious creed, while it is plain that they differ widely in feeling and practice.

The biblical King David of Israel was known for his diverse skills as both a warrior and a writer of Psalms. In his 40 years as ruler, between approximately 1010 and 970 BCE, he united the people of Israel, led them to victory in battle, conquered land and paved the way for his son, Solomon, to build the Holy Temple. And thus David's royal family begins, extending all the way to Jesus Christ, King of the Jews.
