When Dr Laura Marshall-Andrews left the frontline buzz of hospital medicine for an NHS GP surgery, she was overwhelmed by the number of patients that were being let down by our healthcare system. Having witnessed the extent that box-ticking exercises were robbing her patients of their happiness, and sometimes their lives, she started to envisage a new way to care that put individuals and community at its centre. Laura tells the incredible stories of the patients, doctors, artists and complementary health practitioners that have shaped her years as a GP.

In 2015, Laura Marshall decided to have a crack at her lifelong dream of becoming a novelist and enrolled on the Curtis Brown novel-writing course. Two years later, here she is with her debut novel Friend Request. Laura visits the Audible Studios discuss more about that journey and, of course, the novel itself.

Lucas Carr went to Glenbury Hall, an old country manor house turned hotel. He signed in at reception, took his key, and went upstairs to his room. But he never got there. Somehow he vanished along the way, with not a single clue to suggest what might have happened to him. Lucas belonged to the same mysterious organization that employs Ishmael and Penny, so they are sent in to solve the mystery. But when they arrive at grim and isolated Glenbury Hall, they discover it has a reputation as one of the most haunted old houses in England.
