James Francis Cagney Jr., born in New York City, (July 17, 1899-March 30, 1986) was an American actor and dancer. On stage and in film, he was known for his consistently energetic performances, distinctive vocal style, and deadpan comic timing. Cagney won the Academy Award in 1943 for his performance in Yankee Doodle Dandy. The following recording is from a 1980 interview.
