About this listen
The year is 2011, and what starts as a pervasive and inexplicable illness ends up as a zombie infestation that devastates the world's population. Taking the form of a biologist's journal found in the aftermath of the attack, this pulse-pounding, suspenseful tale of zombie apocalypse follows the narrator as he flees from city to countryside and heads north to Canada, where he hopes the undead will be slowed by the colder climate. Encountering scattered humans and scores of the infected along the way, he fills his notebook with descriptions and careful observations of zombie behavior, along with terrifying tales of survival.
This frightening contribution to the massively popular zombie resurgence will keep fans on the edge of their seats right up to the very end.

Excellent suspenseful stuff
I enjoyed how many ups and downs were in this audio book - the hopes, the fears…the ending was spot on

Excellent short story
I loved this little book. it did end abruptly as some reviewers have said but that only added to the consistency of the story

Bite size Zombie tale
Biologist Zombie Twombley is forced to abandon his hobby of birdwatching as the zombie apocalypse dawns. Told in a series of vignettes, narrated onto a tape recorder, it tracks his progress holed up in his lab with zombifying colleagues to an increasingly fraught road trip across the US.
Slightly repetitious-he finds a colony of survivors only for it to be overrun, move on, rinse repeat, this nevertheless has some interesting twists on the genre. For example the sources of the undead infection is thought to be food additives, that can remain dormant in the system, building up ot the point where the infection takes hold. Hence people suddenly 'turn' without being bitten.
The sketches are a big part of the original book, that Twombley takes in his travels, so kudos to the production that you get along ok without them.
Good value, effectively produced with sparingly used sound effects

interesting approach to the zombie genre
my only critique is that more should have been made of the episodic recordings such as more noticeable sfx, loudness, voice emotion. this was let down by lack of the above but could have been a 5 star.
