About this listen
When Brynn aims for a goal, she makes it.
Now? Ember is her goal.
“I’ll never forget the woman who offered an escape.”
Ember Donoghue, former high school soccer star, only needs three things to be content:
A place to live. Her little sister Cinder. Fantasies of her old coach, Brynn Morgan.
When the current assistant coach is fired, Cinder announces that the position is open–and she can’t think of anyone better for the job than Ember.
“I’ll never look at her the same way again.”
Yet recent divorcee Brynn is reluctant to hire her former student. She knows more than anyone that Ember is popular, likeable, and talented.…
She also knows that thinking about grown-up Ember puts her in an awkward position. Because heartbroken Brynn is dating again, and Ember is the stuff dreams are made of.
“Everything will try to tear us apart.”
Inexperienced at love and untouched at 21, Ember throws herself into Brynn’s world, even if it means going against her morally strict parents. And Brynn can’t say no to the college student who makes her feel alive for the first time in twenty years.
Even though this could ruin Brynn’s reputation. Even though this could ruin Ember’s family.
They don’t care. Ember needs Brynn. Brynn wants Ember. Together, they can score any goal.
Even if it means destroying the only security they’ve ever known.
This is a steamy age gap sports romance that contains heavier themes of negative and unsupportive family dynamics. It has a HEA.

If you don't dare, you can't win!
Zero Sum Game is an age-gap and slow-burn romance between soccer Coach Brynn Morgan and her former student Ember Donoghue.
The whole thing is placed in the pandemic period, which makes it even more difficult.
Without personal freedoms through the strict regime of her mother, the only escape in everyday life for ember is to accept the position as assistant coach and to come to terms with her feelings.
She’s in her early twenties and hasn't had any experience with kissing and intimacy, only the fantasies dominated by Coach Morgan. Will these come within reach?
Is she imagining things or is Coach Brynn flirting with her?
The emotional journey of these two characters is well worth hearing!
Sometimes I missed an even more precise description of the intimacy of the two when the time finally came.
More private scenes, because that was something that both of them had wanted for a very long time and you could have described the feeling more intensively and precisely.
But that's just my personal opinion. Otherwise it was gripping and at the same time heartbreaking and heartwarming!

parents?
some parents disgust me
wonderful story of age-gap romance and high school soccer, the mcs are the coaches and though there is high angst in the middle of the story, there is also heartwarming compassion, and the most beautiful first time I've read in the saphfic genre.
the narration is so good I felt she was living the part
extraordinary writing, not the duos' usual style of kink which is always good, this feels very personal, and emotive.

Not what I expected
Okay, so I am really trying to see and review this book as just any random book by some other author - because it is definately not like any of the other books I have read from this duo, and guess I had come to expect a specific kind of stories, even if the plots are generally very different...
So. I will start by reveiling that this is not a "sexy" book (and NO kink), nor is it a story where sex has an explicitly big part in the plot- or character/relationship-development. I mean, it is (since one mc is a virgin, and then she is not, so obviously sex is part of their story), but it is more like "behind the scenes" somehow. The scenes are few and kind of short, so it sometimes feels like we lose a depth-layer in the development in their relationship, which imo happens quite quickly.
I miss some more in-depth descriptions of their intimacy to REALLY believe in and feel with the characters and their journey. It is not the best romance I have come across in general, but it is still a sweet story. I would say it is still worth a listen, just don't expect it to be like their other books.
