Summary

An achingly funny story from the author of the best-selling You Had Me at Hello.

When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues' wedding, all the blame falls on her - turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your school days. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, Edie's forced to take an extended sabbatical - ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right?

Wrong. Banished back to her hometown of Nottingham, Edie is not only dealing with a man who probably hasn't heard the word no in a decade but also suffering an excruciating regression to her teenage years as she moves back in with her widowed father and judgy, layabout sister.

When the world is asking who you are, it's hard not to question yourself. Who's that girl? Edie is ready to find out.

Great story

I enjoyed this book and the storyline as well as the performance of the reader. Beginning was a bit tedious and I could do without the swearing but a lovely sweet romantic story with almost a great ending.

Brilliant book, awful ending

This has got to be one of the worst endings ever! There is no conclusion as to who it is - yes you can surmise but not knowing 100% makes the book quite unsatisfactory.

The narrator is quite poor throughout - very staccato that gets worse as you go along.

Really am left quite bereft with the ending of this book - especially as it could have been up there with one of Mhari’s best.

Fantastic

I loved Edie and wanted her to be happy and see herself as the good person she is. I wanted Jack to get his comeupance and the good people to come out on top. Highly recommended.

Loved the story.. need more.

Like the audiobook, it’s plot, the narration, .. everything. However, wished for more from the ending. All in all enjoyable.

Good read

I liked the story line but found the narrator robotic with sentences at times.

Modern day Pride & Prejudice

Thoroughly enjoyed this book; I thought it was believable whilst still with that necessary magic. Edie was a great protagonist, albeit frustrating at times. Most importantly she was likeable and you wanted the best for her.

Quick moving, moderately witty

An easy enough story to listen to. It moved quickly from the beginning, which was great! Perhaps the last part dragged on a bit much and it could've ended sooner.

This book kept me company like a friend, humorous and light hearted, with well placed poignancy. Thoroughly enjoyed.
