About this listen
For fans of Really Good Actually and I'm Glad My Mom Died
This is a book about mistakes. And why we should de-flower shame in all its messy, complicated glory...
Hello!
It's Lou here...
I've poured my heart and guts on to the page and shared my soul in this book. This won't be for everyone but I hope it helps the people it does connect with. We all have stories and I think its useful to share them, I think it helps unite us and in some ways it helps us release some shame.
I've been alarmingly truthful and sincere, because I think society would be better if we could all be honest. I've of course used humour too, not as a way to cope (I've processed the darker things that have happened to me), but as a change in pace, some gorgeous light relief, because life is light and dark dancing together in the wind. And I love jokes.
If this is the sort of thing you're after, please pick me up and take me to bed (that's the book speaking so a little joke there).

brilliant
I love her comedy but you dont need to be a fan to enjoy this book. Particularly good if you want an uplifting look at recovery from addiction with some fanny jokes. Who doesn't? Loved it.

A binge worthy blend of wisdom and creative wit.
Lou poured her heart into telling stories that I can’t imagine were easy to tell creating an authentic and engaging book that left me feeling more open to accepting myself and hopeful for the future. Thank you.

Honest, thoughtful & funny
This book tells stories about people - the good, the bad and the funny. Lou’s openness and reflection about some very hard hitting topics are a gift to the ready. Especially when paired with her reflections and insights about human nature. Keep listening right to the end for a lovely, funny interview!

Honest, raw and vulnerable
What a book! Made me laugh, made me cry and made me feel better about-myself, knowing we all have similar feelings and experiences. Lou is so brave being able to share her stories and her view on the world. Very inspirational! This book pooped up on my audible without me even knowing who she was, clearly I was meant to listen to this. Thank you for sharing. What a woman!

Great, honest autobiography
I really enjoyed listening to this book. Lou’s great at reading it. I appreciated her honesty and vulnerability in talking about some really personal and traumatic stuff, and her ability to see humour in some of the situations.

Surprisingly inspirational
I’ve seen Lou Sanders on TV and her humour and personality was evident in the book and her delivery of it. It was also filled with really insightful and honest reflections. I was moved by her stories of her experiences and her realisations on how she needed to change to have the life she really wanted. I could relate to many of her behaviours and shameful feelings even though I am from a different background and age. The themes of love, shame, loss and finding yourself are universal. Lou does not shy away from painful or abusive experiences that happened to her, yet she is still optimistic and full of energy.

Open, honest & an addictive listen
I had not heard of this author, but saw a review by another comedian on insta & decided to give it a go. I really enjoyed listening to Lou reading the book. So honest & interesting observations on shame. Really enjoyable to hear her journey. I think her family should be proud
