Summary
A CHILLING NORFOLK BROADS CRIME THRILLER!
A convicted psychopath with an early release, a couple found butchered on board their boat, and a twelve-year-old boy, hiding in fear or already lying dead.
Struggling with his new role as a detective chief inspector, John Tanner is warned of a convicted psychopath’s early release. When a couple is found later that day; the man stabbed to death, the woman with her throat cut, he's forced to assume the convict is responsible. But when the male victim turns out to be heir to a global pharmaceutical company, and his twelve-year-old son is nowhere to be found, he has to start looking closer at the victim’s family, and their sprawling stately ancestral home.
Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy Norfolk murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.

A Good Story but
it is a such a shame that all the female characters sound like Julian Clary.

excellent
Really enjoyed the storyline, twists and turns as ever left me pondering. The exceptional narration was my downfall, l have listened to Inspector Ryan too much and loving Johnathan Keebles voice found it hard to split the detectives, which fractionally spoilt the listen

Struggled with this one
I’ve been a fan of these stories for a good while but this one grated a bit mainly due to the language used around women. The author seems obsessed with women’s bodies in far too much inappropriate detail. It might all be called banter but let’s have a little more respect please.

A real rollercoaster
Yet another winner of a book. The twists and turns had me constantly rethinking the story line. However the conclusions were excellent. Wonderfully narrated by Jonathan Keeble as usual. Will have to wait for the next instalment now. Highly recommend this book

Story too fantastical
I have enjoyed these books over the years, but unfortunately some of the story lines have gone over the top. I understand that the DCI is in his new position, and finding it difficult to settle to his new role. However his usual charming character coupled woth his insightful policing has gone awry on this book. I was very disappointed. I also think that the actor, has an unfortunate delivery for the female characters. They always sound insipid, which they are not.!

Struggling to continue
I agree with a previous reviewer - the language used to describe women is abysmal. There are no references to women that I can think of at all without some description of their level of sexual attractiveness. It is absolutely unnecessary and over the top; both author and editor should have a long talk with themselves.

Great narration
However, I have to agree with other reviewers…way too many sexualising comments about women. It was cheap and nasty and not at all warranted or funny. Spoiled a good story and great narration.

More like a Carry On Film in parts
I'm glad it's the last in the series, at the time of writing, as I'm not sure I would continue with the series. It was more like a Carry On film in places with the continuous innuendo & admiration of the female body. I am also critical on the way Tanner is & how he behaves very unprofessional & incompetent in many ways. I don't think I would have got this far without the excellent narration of Jonathan Keeble.
