Day in and day out, I was reminded of what I was: a subject, a mere guinea pig to a bunch of insatiable lab tests. These scientists were trying to break me, recondition me, control me. I had no idea that my life would succumb to this, a mysterious phenomenon in need of experimentation. Because humans feared what they couldn’t understand, and I happened to be a powerhouse in my own right, a supernatural prodigy. But one day, after almost twenty years, I escaped, leaving nothing behind but ashes and acid rain.
Little did I know, I’d be reminded of that fateful night I’d left my constant nightmare…
Bio nukes fell from the sky with one goal in mind: to essentially turn everyone into superhumans like me.
Turning innocent lives into a round of Russian roulette was the name of the game. The aftermath left two sides of the same coin: to become supervillains or superheroes. I choose the latter, but not by choice.
Either way, I had a binding contract with The Brother’s Code, a crime-fighting organization where plain supes could train to become TBC Super Heroes.
Now I have to make things right, working with The Brother’s Code to stop this wave of supervillains created by the same facility that turned my cells into biological warfare. A team of three girls and I would become superheroes, defying all odds to shut down Sigma-RE for good, just as long as we could find a way to work together.
Easier said than done.

narrators do a great job with a disappointing stor
first off, I want to say that the narrators do a great job, bringing a variety of voices to the table and are consistent and engaging.
they're let down by a poorly edited text (with many words just... wrong. i.e stammered instead of staggered, not using "complement" properly, it goes on and feels jarring)
the pacing also feels off - it's never quite explained whether heroes existed already or not, but the world seems to be set up ready for them. the shady organisation is far too prepared to train them as well (though this makes sense IF they knew in advance...)
the MC is the main disappointment. his character changes by the chapter, going from naval gazing "I can't love anyone" to legitimately creepy to "diffuse" an argument later. also, for someone who hated being conditioned and trapped by a mysterious organisation and who hates the idea of killing villains for no reason, he is awfully quick to just straight up MURDER a woman later on without questioning the mission. we're just told that "oh she's totally evil"... by the same people who a chapter before he was suspect about.
there's also a sub thread of mind control which is frustrating as it feels like it resets him and the status quo.
it's a shame because the conspiracy element and the world ARE interesting but we don't get a consistent chance to see it grow. they go from "no heroes" to "suddenly these heroes are doing everything" in the spam of a week and it's to much too quick.
if you're a fan of power fantasies and switch of media then this will be a good one for you. but I found the idiosyncrasies just a bit too much after a while.
