About this listen

Sloane loves a good mystery. He grew up as the son of two psychiatrists, so he finds most people tediously easy to figure out. He finds his way to Pennsylvania State University, longing for a rural experience, and ends up being lured into joining a frat by Micah Springfield, the hippest guy on campus.

Nothing in Sloane's classes is as intriguing as Hank Springfield, Micah's brother and fellow frat house member. Hank looks like a tough guy - big muscles, tatts, and a beard - but his eyes are soft and sweet. He acts dumb, but he's a philosophy major. He's presumably straight, but then why does Sloane feel such crazy chemistry whenever Hank is around? And why does Hank hate Sloane so much?

When Sloane ends up stuck on campus over Christmas, Micah invites him to spend the holidays at their family farm in Amish country. It's a chance to experience a true Americana Christmas - and further investigate the mystery that is Hank Springfield. Can Sloane unlock the secrets of this family and unwrap the heart hidden inside the beefcake?

a Christmas cracker

This is a lovely Christmas romance from Eli Easton, who can always be relied upon to deliver sweetness and spice for the holidays. It's charming with lots of great ensemble characters who are developed really well in their own right. The story holds lots of interest and the slow burn is a delight. Sloane and Hank are perfect for each other and when they finally get together, sparks fly. HEA guaranteed.

The writer is the star.

There are little nuances in the author's style that bring this to life. It is well written, and therefore it works.

Excellent

Excellent story made even better by a top class narrator. Despite being in dual first person POV the voices and reading were so completely different that there was never any confusion whose POV you were in.

Tolerable

Eli Easton never manages to pull my heartstrings. But I was in for a long Christmas story. This one fell flat. The narrator was alright but no performer.
Main issue though was the cover model. I feel repulsed by big muscles and every mention of Hank's body reminded me how I feel about the cover.
