Summary
From USA Today Bestselling author Marley Valentine comes her debut, a bisexual awakening, age-gap, sapphic romance.
At twenty-four, I'd already lived a thousand lives.
I was a daughter.
An orphan.
A foster kid.
A sister.
Someone to everyone, and yet I was unrecognizable to myself. I spent my time keeping everybody else afloat, while I was slowly drowning.
Until I met her.
The first time she walked into my life, I was mesmerized by the mysterious stranger. When I came face-to-face with her a second time, I was being introduced to my best friend's mother.
We were worlds and experiences apart, unlikely in every sense of the word.
Everything between us was unexpected. Our attraction to one another, the secrets I shared, and the cracked pieces of her I so badly wanted to put back together.
We broke.
We healed.
We loved.
Desperately.
But I didn't know how to love her without losing myself, and if she discovered the cost, I knew she wouldn't let me.

A must-listen. What a story and narration!
I have been waiting impatiently for this audiobook to go live, and I jumped on it as soon as it did. I love this series. It is full of hurt/love, deep angst, serious topics, found family, and unending love, both familial and romantic.
A compelling sapphic romance you won’t be able to put down, UNLIKELY hits you where it hurts. In your heart. With Clem just discovering a new side to herself and Zara wanting to get out there again, their worlds collide for one night and one night only. So they thought. But of course their lives are more entangled than they realised, and we are treated to the journey as all the pieces fall into place.
I loved the overlapping timeline with Book 2, UNLOVED. All of Clem’s four foster brothers make appearances, and there was just enough of a tease that I’m already ready for the next brother to get his HEA.
I’m not sure how these two amazing women got through narrating some parts of this book, as it had me close to tears. There were definitely lumps in my throat. With heavy topics tackled with care and sensitivity, Marley is a master at weaving tragedy and growth into her stories.
I can’t shout loud enough that this whole series is a must-listen, but I will always love a good sapphic romance, and this one is up there with SERPENTINE VALENTINE by Giana Darling. Both worlds apart, but both are expertly written.
So if you’re in the mood to have your heart ripped from your chest and slowly put back in, download UNLIKELY today.
Please check your trigger warning, though, as this book covers some really heavy topics.
