About this listen

A collection of interlinked tales of crime and retribution laced with dark humour, set around the festive season – from the No. 1 bestseller Stuart MacBride

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Twelve days, twelve stories.

Meet Fat Billy Partridge, possibly the worst cat-burglar ever; newbie drug-dealer Brian, who probably shouldn’t be taking advantage of the job’s fringe benefits; Philippe, a chef with anger-management issues and lots of very sharp knives; Mr Unwin, the undertaker with the golden touch; and Lord Peter Forsyth-Leven, MSP, learning the hard way that having it all means you’ve got so much more to lose…

Thieves, drug dealers, lap-dancers, gangsters and even the odd good guy populate these twelve interlinked tales of crime and retribution set around the festive season.

Macbride at his best

What made the experience of listening to Twelve Days of Winter: Crime at Christmas - Twelve Days of Winter Omnibus edition the most enjoyable?

I love stuart macbride and this book of several short stories was fun to listen to

What was one of the most memorable moments of Twelve Days of Winter: Crime at Christmas - Twelve Days of Winter Omnibus edition?

The detail of his stories, made me feel like I was right there, inside it experiencing it all myself. The way he makes his books makes me easy to forget that I am just listening to it and am not part of it

What does Ian Hanmore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He has a very unique way of telling the story. It felt a little like story time back when inwas a child, just with a lot darker stories

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really, all of the different parts were great

Any additional comments?

Cant wait to listen to my next stuart macbride book. I read them all so its nice to just expirience it all again while just listening to it.

Black antidote to Christmas jollity

This is McBride at his finest. A series of short stories full of black humour, just and unjust desserts. Of course, there are a number of very unpleasant scenes described with a certain amount of relish. If you don’t enjoy that please steer clear. Me, I love it!

MacBride Excels Again

Another slice of very gruesome Tartan Noir! Nice links between stories and the Twelve Days concept works.

Twelve Days of Winter - twelve excellent tales.

I've just finished listening to this book whilst waiting for 'Close to the Bone'. Twelve stories, just the right length, each story so different yet all connect with each other. Stuart MacBride at his very best. Very highly recommended.

Oldstone - Scotland’s Crime Capital

Stuart Macbride tells tales of crime like a master. The Twelve Days of Winter, while relatively short, manages to brings together all the ingredients of the criminal world which has so engrossed us.
