Summary

A year after his older brother made the ultimate sacrifice, Sergeant Major Luke Carter, decorated hero of 22 SAS, is sent to Perth on a recruiting job. His orders: select two candidates from the SASR for a highly sensitive mission on foreign soil.

But when a sudden crisis threatens to derail the plan, Carter and his new colleagues find themselves forced into action on a high-stakes operation. One that has the potential to change the course of the war in Ukraine.

So begins a deadly game of predator and prey, moving from the streets of Minsk to the cliffs above the Black Sea. And a final showdown with the biggest target of all...

Not up to usual standard

Very simplistic with the usual “Rupert’s” and the obligatory toffee nosed spook, heard it all before, could have a great story if the lead character had a little more backbone.

standard stuff

not bad although many of these types of books start to get a little samey I give Ryan praise for at least trying new ideas and mixing things up a bit

Fairly good!

Decent enough story with a good amount of action in, I liked the occasional random bit of gore and shock deaths. hopefully Ryan stays on this path of improvement in storylines. just a shame about the ending. Seemed that the ending was rushed and pretty random to be honest.

The End

Great story, a very weak ending. What happened in the end? What happened to the traitor?

Chris Ryan and Paul Thornley, a great combination .Paul Thornley - Narrator - Best in the Business. Chris Ryan, Back on Track.

Paul Thornley has a great skill of keeping every minute of every storyline alive.
If there are awards for best narrator, then Paul Thornley should get them all.
Good recovery from Chris Ryan after the last geordie Carter offering, Back on track again.

Narration and attention to detail

On the whole a good listen though a little predictable. Chris Ryan is always good for an adrenaline filled thriller

Nothing unfortunately

I didn’t feel there was a lot of action in this story. I was left a bit bored by it.

First but not the last 👌

First time listening or even reading a Chris Ryan book and I've been missing out. Enjoyed the Jack Reacher books but nice to hear things from a European perspective. Even bought more credits which is a first!

Contemporary spy and SAS classic

Gripping and intense story of the UK trying to undermine Putin. Very pro the SAS and not presenting the officiers or MI6 in good light. Narrator as always on form. Paul Thornley is excellent for these stories.
