Star of Stage, BBC Radio and with a hit BBC T.V Series in his portfolio Count Arthur Strong is in my humble opinion the most refreshing and witty personalty to claim his niche in the British comedy scene. He is not in anyway a 'fly by night' he has trod the boards and honed his craft over many years. In the finest tradition of northern comics he effortlessly combines the captivating story telling ability of Al Read with the delightful wordplay of Les Dawson and throughout serves up a Dickensian banquet of Malapropisms.

Brilliant!!

Been a huge fan of Count Arthur and after following his exploits on radio and TV, it was a sheer and utter delight to me to listen to the soon to be cricketly acclaimed book of his he done. A sheer triumph. Nearly as good as defending his title as Doncaster cauliflower ear champion 1968-1969.

This book clearly demonstrates his mantra he told me when I bumped into him at the Bradford Alhambra. 'It's not what you know but how loud you say it. Now push off and bother someone else'

One hell of a man and one hell of a book. I really do.

Hilarious, Entertaining and Creative

This book is the autobiography of Count Arthur Strong, a fictional celebrity from the golden age of variety performance. It is heartwarming, silly and laugh-out-loud funny all the way through, as Count Arthur meanders his way through the jumbled memories of his varied and eventful life.
It is a charming and innocent piece of humorous writing in a similar vein to Terry Pratchett’s good-natured comedy writing.

From beginnin to end this book is hilarious, count Arthur is one of the best characters of the 21st century, why the BBC only made 3 tv series is Beyond me, Steve Delaney character is hilarious on Radio, television, live on stage, and just as funny on audio book,,10 stars, give it a try,,please, only someone with no sense of humor wouldn't find this funny,,can't recomend it highly enough,,Robert weedon,

Self-told biography of a comic genius

Count Arthur is an especially marmitey comedian. People who have any idea who he is in the first place, tend to have a pretty strong opinion on him one way or another. I've heard people say he is the funniest man alive and I've also had usually rational people tell me they want to stab him to death in a dark alley way every time they hear him speak. Well, that sounds like a pretty great accolade to me. Can't evoke murderous intent with anything bog standard, no.

This book is an autobiography, a ramble through his life, told by himself, in his inimitable style. It's hilarious. Well, I think it is, your mileage may very, almost certainly will given they frigging cancelled his BBC series, bastards! Warning, he does tend to go off on tangents a bit and many events in his life are made up on the spot, though it's pretty obvious.

Arthur reminds me of Tommy Cooper, the knowingly bad style, that shouldn't be funny, but is because the crappiness is part of the joke. His confusion and losing the plotness helps with this dramatically.

My exposure to this was the audiobook, read by himself. I can't imagine it's a tenth as good in print as it is directly read by him, like the radio show. It's something to be listened to by him, with his performance -- enjoy it that way.
