Summary

Please note: This content is not for kids. It is for mature audiences only. Just like the original graphic novels, this audio adaptation contains explicit language and graphic violence, as well as strong sexual content and themes. Discretion is advised.

Enter the Dreaming again as the blockbuster audio adaptation of “the greatest epic in the history of comic books” continues in The Sandman: Act II. James McAvoy returns to voice Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, in this sequel to the number-one New York Times audio best seller. Journey into a world of myths, imagination, and terror based on the best-selling DC comic books and graphic novels written by Neil Gaiman (returning as the Narrator), and lose yourself in another groundbreaking, immersive drama adapted and directed by the award-winning audio master Dirk Maggs.

In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

Just close your eyes and listen again as the greatest epic continues.

Act II of the audio series The Sandman adapts collected volumes four (Season of Mists) and five (A Game of You) of the comics in their entirety, and most of volume six (Fables & Reflections).

Loved it. An amazing continuation of the story

I don't where to do begin with this. It has taken me two weeks to finish it, I probably would have finished it sooner if I didn't have other commitments. I loved to hear both James McAvoy and Kat Dennings again, as well as a some new actors like David Tennant and Regé-Jean Page. Who both stole their chapters with the accents and the singing. I wanted to just pick out Niamh Walsh who I remember from the British Soap (Holby City) for the time she was on it. Loved her back then and I am in love in her now, and amazed that she is going to be in the TV series that is coming out next year.

I loved the sound effects with story, would prefer to listen with my headphones, rather than a speaker (just because my flatmates think I am weird I listen to audiobooks). I spin offs that divert from the original story are okay, but just that. I prefer to stick to that story, but that is just my preference. I have to say I am glad that Matthew the Raven came back, as I am massive fan of Swamp Thing and what that could have been. As well as the hints to Lady Johanna Constantine, with her being played by the amazing Jenna Coleman in the tv show.

I couldn't forget Emma Corrin, which was a nice surprise since her debut from The Crown. The same thing for Regé-Jean Page, but I have already mentioned him. Another nice surprise was the character Mazikeen, I already know her comic book backstory in and out, and I'm glad we had a change in media for what could have been for her, and entirety of the Lucifer Tv Show. I wished they added more from the comics to the show in the end (Don't worry no major spoilers here).

That is all I have to say for now, but I highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of the sandman universe, or has listened to Act 1. I would highly recommend this to a different media of fans which are the tv shows related-people. if you are a fan of Lucifer or even Swamp Thing, I highly recommend this. it just adds to it in a different media of what could have been.

Simply fantastic

I am a huge fan of Neil Gamon and his Sandman run and the audio book gives it a new way to consume that world whilst staying very close to the stories.

Can't wait for Act III

Enjoyable but a bit less than Act I

I liked it enough but not nearly as much as Act I. The stories were engaging and performances were delightful (at least the ones I've been waiting for to hear as I had no expectations for others but I've found none lacking, casting is definitely a strong suit of this production). It's just that there's very little of the Sandman himself compared to the Act I and I'd enjoy spending more time with him and that's the reason I liked Act II a bit less.

bit lost in the story

loved the audiobook it's just so engaging, although I felt there was alot of unanswered and half finished scenarios, whether those will get answered in the next book in the series, and at the end of the book I was a bit lost with the story I didn't really feel like there was anything to sum it up. but again I stress the narrator's are just great, the sound effects everything is just extremely well done!!! I will likely listen again to see if i can make more sense of the story.
