About this listen

Jed Welch thought washing out of the Marines Corps was the worst thing that could happen. It landed him back in his old life of crime, running with drug dealers in Queens. Just when he thought his luck couldn’t get worse, a global viral outbreak unleashed virulent hordes of Alpha predators. He quickly finds himself alone, saving his own skin, and on the run in New York City as the outbreak spreads.

In a twist of fate, Jed discovers the remnants of a devastated Marine platoon and decides to join them in the fight for survival. With these new allies, Jed has more than a new safe haven. He finds a renewed sense of mission and the conviction to serve again. Together, he and the other Marines will take the fight to the enemy, striking them where it matters most.

As the battles rage across the earth and humanity slowly gains a foothold, Jed grows into a leader, bringing his squad into the front lines against a new and more dangerous threat than any they have yet faced.

I really enjoyed this story, the Narrator was excellent, changing from one persons voice to another really well. Thoroughly enjoyed!

action-packed

Action packed followup to Emergance, Penance. Nicely written, plenty of interesting characters and some new twists on the variant monsters.

Good Trilogy

It was good, it isn't the best one I ever heard but it was good and I enjoyed it.

Great stories, excellent narrator.

This book was an accidental find and a delight. I was interested from the first chapter and it held my attention for the whole series.
Bronson Pinchot was an excellent narrator.

Mediocre

Story was ok, author has a nice voice, but not for this type of book. Didn't have me riveted

Great series, hope for more

Not the typical zombie and end of the world stories. It's better! Overall makes sense humans could end up in a similar scenario to this story. When law disappears, the greedy ones prevail. Looking forward to next books in these series

It's OK

I'm sure the story is better than I think. I've listened to 4 hours so far and I've spaced out so many times I'll have to restart it to catch up. The performance is lack luster and doesn't flow too well. sentances sound like questions and intoned on the wrong words.. oh, expect the word "scratches" to last a while 3 seconds each time you hear it. I'll continue as I've got the box set but I'm not that impressed

misunderstood

reading reviews it's pretty clear a lot of people don't realise this is basically a fan fic of the extinction cycle by Nicholas Sandsbury Smith. it's some back stories of some of the fringe characters from that. what seem like gaps in this story, and explanations that seem missing are all covered in the main series.

listen to that first
