Who killed the Mayor? It’s up to the Marlow Murder Club to find out . . .

Geoffrey Lushington, Mayor of Marlow, dies suddenly during a Town Council meeting. When traces of aconite – also known as the queen of poisons – are found in his coffee cup, the police realise he was murdered. But who did it? And why?

The police bring Judith, Suzie and Becks in to investigate as Civilian Advisors right from the start, so they have free rein to interview suspects and follow the evidence to their heart’s content, which is perfect because Judith has no time for rules and standard procedure. But this case has the Marlow Murder Club stumped. Who would want to kill the affable Mayor? How did they even get the poison into his coffee? And is anyone else in danger? The Marlow Murder Club are about to face their most difficult case yet . . .

The narration is brilliant as always

I have really enjoyed this series of books. I don’t think this one was quite as strong as the first two. Felt a bit drawn out and convoluted rather than cleverly woven. That said I still thought it was a good listen. The ladies are entertaining!

Northwest listener

I have read all in this series so far, they all follow the same story line, Lightweight crime stories but I quite enjoy them in-between stories that are more demanding of my attention and sometimes brutal. I would love to be one of the ladies in this group.

Can’t get enough of this series.

I’ve read all three and throughly enjoyed them. I love the dynamic between the three, main characters. We used to live in Marlow and it’s lovely to be reminded of the town. Just a wholesome read without the often stomach-turning events of many crime novels. Can we have some more in the series please?

Easy to listen to and enjoyable

I enjoy these characters immensely and whilst the story line is somewhat unbelievable, it is well told and narrated

Another who done it with many twists and turns

Always a pleasure to listen to these books! You can’t get distracted for a second otherwise you’re bound to miss a key bit in the plot.

A cosy mystery

This is a nice, cosy murder mystery. I've read all 3 of the Marlow Murder Club series. This is not the best of the 3, but it's still a very good read. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested. I love Thorogood's characterisation, and the narration on Audible is fantastic as always.
This mystery follows the investigation into a death at a local council meeting. Judith, Suzy, and Becks are their usual tenacious selves, helping the police solve the murder.

Heart-warming, funny and intriguing storyline

Overall, I really enjoyed this murder mystery series!
I like the balance between the personalities of the three main characters, because that’s what makes this series so heart-warming. It makes you smile as you listen to their bickering. Judith and Suzie, in particular, are such funny characters!
The murder mystery story is complex, intelligent and intriguing, keeping you trying to guess who the murderer is.
(Possible spoiler:)
My only critique on this book is that I couldn’t understand why the threesome didn’t check Sophia’s alibi from when they first heard it - checking if she had really punctured a tire at the automobile repair company. But that is minuscule and finding out the answer earlier wouldn’t have made such a big difference.
