Summary

The Prince and the Pauper gets a modern makeover in this adorable, witty, and heartwarming young-adult novel set in the Geekerella universe by national best-selling author Ashley Poston.

Imogen Lovelace is an ordinary fangirl on an impossible mission: save her favorite character, Princess Amara, from being killed off from her favorite franchise, Starfield. The problem is, Jessica Stone, the actress who plays Princess Amara, wants nothing more than to leave the intense scrutiny of the fandom behind. If this year's ExcelsiCon isn't her last, she'll consider her career derailed.

When a case of mistaken identity throws look-alikes Imogen and Jess together, they quickly become enemies. But when the script for the Starfield sequel leaks, and all signs point to Jess, she and Imogen must trade places to find the person responsible. That's easier said than done when the girls step into each other's shoes and discover new romantic possibilities, as well as the other side of intense fandom. As these "princesses" race to find the script leaker, they must rescue themselves from their own expectations and redefine what it means to live happily ever after.

I loved this so much!

Omg this really surprised me, I knew I’d like it but I didn’t think I’d love it! It was a quick & light-hearted read thats a perfect break from more heavy stories.

It follows two teenage girls: Jess is famous for playing a princess in a sci-fi series, and Imogen is one of the more well known members of the fandom who are trying to revive the princess’ character. But then things start to go wrong at the convention and they realise the only way to fix it is to swap lives.

The characters were so sweet and lovely and it had such great casual rep. Imogen has 2 mums, there’s a sapphic relationship with one of the mc’s & an mlm relationship between side characters. There is also people of all gender identities and expressions at the convention which was never questioned or called weird; this made my little queer heart very happy. There’s also an enemies to lovers romance.

So overall I highly recommend this and I can’t wait to read the 3rd book!

Cheesy loveliness

This series is my secret guilty pleasure. It’s so cheesy I shouldn’t love it, but I really do! As this book comes 3rd out of the three for me, but it is still good. It seemed to move more quickly than the other two, I think because there’s two love stories going on simultaneously. I would have liked to see more interaction between the two main characters because the scene when they meet up again in the diner is lovely. They aren’t as likeable as the two in Geekarella or Bookish and the Beast but they do grow on you. Overall it’s a lovely sequel. Btw, the third book is the best imo.

Not as good as Geekerella.

I didn't enjoy this story as much as Geekerella. The main characters weren't as likable. Both were very self absorbed and quite anoying.

A super fun spin off

Ashley Poston did it again! I love this spin-off for Geekerella and the characters explored here are very fun. The exploration of fandom remains heartwarming and truthtul. Recommend to everyone who loves anything geeky.

Another great instalment!

Love how the first story line was incorporated into the second book and was so glad it all turned out how it did in the end.
