Summary

Since its first publication in 1611, the King James Version of the Bible, with its flowing language and rhythmic prose, has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 400 years and is the greatest English translation ever produced. Early in the 19th century, however, the British and Foreign Bible Society decided to exclude the 14 books known as 'The Apocrypha'. Today, English Bibles with the Apocrypha are becoming more popular again.

Now for the first time, the original unexpurgated version of the King James Bible - complete with all of the Apocrypha - is available as an audiobook performed by British narrator Christopher Glyn, who has been acclaimed for his many Biblical readings and other classic Christian inspirational works.

Christopher’s virtuoso performance, based on a profound knowledge and understanding of the text, offers a rich listening experience that captures the beauty and power of God's word and makes the old English of the King James Bible clear and easy for a modern audience to understand.

Beautifully narrated

I had never before read or listened to The Bible during my 54 years on Earth.
Curiosity finally got the better of me and I am so glad I chose this version with such engaging and superb narration. It's fascinating stuff also. Recommended listening.

Superb Reading

It took a while to wean myself from Scourby's reading, but this really is superb, with an understated passion that is all the more effective, and finally to include the apocrypha, which are essential to understanding the development of Christian doctrine, particularly the Trinity, as scriptural despite the absence of any clear statement on it.
Sadly the KJV will become a historical curiosity as those who should man the walls happily open the gates, and the KJV's defenders who should embrace the NKJV as a perfectly acceptable modern English replacement in the main condemn any change of any word, and then look absurd, words absolutely do change, and having recourse to a dictionary isn't the solution, because the word means what it means now and when you have to translate the translation problems will emerge.
That being said the sheer musicality of the KJV exerts such a powerful attraction as is evident from this reading, and one suspects that, the child in the man which loves the arcane and spectacle, is attracted by its occasional inscrutability which informs this is the scripture wherein is no doubt -:)

Why is this not broken up into the books?

Good recording, formatted horrifically!

You did such a good job, why waste it by failing bookmark it probably. People want to flick through and read different parts.

PLEASE FIX THIS!!

good recording bad categorizing

the books of the bible are bot listed, instead its just numbers, which is not helpful and makes choosing which book or chapter within a boo very hard, this is a very poor and stupid failing
