Summary
Life for Victoria Lacey should be perfect. And it is - perfectly boring.
Agree to marry a lord who has yet to inspire a single, solitary tingle? Why, of course. Smile as though this is not the thousandth time he's mentioned hounds and hunting? It's all in a day's work for the oh-so-proper sister of the Duke of Blackmore. Surely no one would suspect her secret longing for heart-racing, head-spinning passion.
Except, perhaps, a dark stranger...on a terrace...at a ball where she should definitely not be kissing a man she has only just met.
Hatred, not love, drives Lucien Wyatt, Viscount Atherbourne, to tempt the "Flower of Blackmore" into sin. Her brother has done unthinkable damage to Lucien's family, and he intends to exact revenge in the only way left to him: Ruining his enemy's sister, then stealing her from Blackmore by making her his own.
As Lucien carries out his ruthless plan, tutoring his new bride in the finer points of pleasure, her surrender leaves him breathless...and soon a new obsession awakens - a scandalous fascination with his irresistible wife.
Contains mature themes.

Great story
Great story shame the narrator over pronounces the words although like her ability to use different voices.

Good narrator
The story got interesting in the last half of the book. The mystery of why Lucien’s brother and sister died was interesting.

Tons of sex, but not much plot
Although some people find the narrator mispronounces her words (which she does) her voice is actually very seductive and alluring. My problem with this book, is that the vast majority of it was taken up with sex scenes! So if you’re looking for a regency romp, then this is definitely the book for you! Sadly, if you take that away, there wasn’t much left...sad as the plot could of been far more exciting, had the author of focused on fleshing it out (excuse the pun!) lol ;-)

Great story, narrator weird
Great story, but for some reason the narrator keeps pronouncing any word ending in 'ack' as 'ark'. So back becomes bark. No one has ever talked like that in England - even the BBC in the days of received pronunciation. Its a shame (and occasionally very funny eg 'she touched his bark' ) but after a while it just grates. So, along with parlors, stoops, and all the other linguistic errors perhaps we could give bark a rest. Otherwise terrific story by a lady who knows how to write a page turner.

enjoyable
I do wish American authors and narrators would get into the spirit of England when writing of the British aristocracy. for example the pronunciation of mama and papa should be mummAH and puppAH.

Too obvious
The narrator has and odd way of pronouncing words. She makes all male characters sound the same.
The story is too predictable, the only one fooled is the heroine. Who despite knowing her husband married her for revenge, takes forever to realise he is keeping her family away.
There is alot of sex thrown in as the heroine "can't think straight" when being seduce, TRIPE.
The heroine is spineless, has a few temper tantrums, takes everything thrown at her.
However there are lots of sub-plots, no doubt waiting to come to completion in other books.

Good-ish
Last half was better than first, which was too wordy. Narrator not great - too many mispronounced words and had to speed up the replay. The sex scenes were largely unnecessary, but individually mercifully short. That said, it’s basically a decent romance with an interesting plot and likeable characters. I’ll listen to next in series.

Ghastly
If you’re after losing the will to live then you can’t go wrong with this mind numbing tripe. Add in the overblown narration and it becomes farcical. Definitely a title to avoid.
