About this listen
Volume One includes four full-length novels:
Ever Yours, Annabelle: As a girl, Annabelle Huxley chased Robert Conrad with reckless abandon, and he always rescued her when she pushed too far - until the accident that cost him everything.
The Madness of Viscount Atherbourne: Victoria Lacey's life is perfect-perfectly boring. Surely no one suspects her secret longing for head-spinning passion. Except a dark stranger, on a terrace, at a ball where she should not be kissing a man she has just met.
The Truth About Cads and Dukes: Painfully shy Jane Huxley is in a most precarious position, thanks to dissolute charmer Colin Lacey's deceitful wager. Now, his brother, the icy Duke of Blackmore, must make it right, even if it means marrying her himself.
Desperately Seeking a Scoundrel: Tortured and hunted by a brutal criminal, Lord Colin Lacey is rescued from death's door by the stubborn, fetching Sarah Battersby. In return, she asks one small favor: Pretend to be her fiance. With danger nipping his heels, he knows it is wrong to want her, wrong to agree to her terms. But when has Colin Lacey ever done the sensible thing?
Contains mature themes.

loved it!
I won't lie, I was struggling with the narration and found the style and pronounciations very distracting. however I took great advice from a Facebook group, by speeding the narration to 1.3 which made all the difference.
Great stories, looking forward to starting the next.

Narrator can't pronounce a short 'a' ... eventually I couldn't bear it
Many, many simple words, such as back, are pronounced by nearly everyone with a short 'a'. Mary Sarah mispronounces them; back becomes bark, hack becomes hark, etc. It soon became impossible to continue listening.

Captivating story lines
Beautiful narrative, strong characters and captivating stories.
Do not give up because of the narration of the first book. It gets better and is well worth it. After the first few chapters I got used to the pronunciation of the narrator. With each book it gets even better. She is actually really good. Not sure why the difference in the first book. I wondered if she may be of Welsh origin, the pronunciation and melody of her voice in the first book reminded me of Welsh accent. I may of course be wrong about that.

Loved this collection of books
I absolutely loved this collection of historic romances. The narration in the first book was really annoying when thoughts were being read out, but persevere it’s worth it, the rest of the books it really does improve.

Loved the stories
The stories were really good, I loved them. To begin with I felt they were ruined by the narrator, her voice sounded depressed and so tragic most of the time and her pronunciation of her words was ridiculous and weird, back was bark, perhaps was p'hups, black was blark, fact was fuct, acceptance was arcceptance, and then she pronounced some words the other way round like blast should be pronounced blarst and answer arnswer. So any words that should have been pronounced as ah were pronounced as a, and words that were supposed to be pronounced as a were pronounced as ah. Anyway I still continued listening because the stories were really good and it was 4 books for1 credit. And by the time I got to the 2nd book I got used to the narrator but her pronunciation of her words were still very annoying, but apart from that I thought she was quite good, a lot better than some female narrators I have listened to, if only she would pronounce her words properly. I will be buying the rest of this series as I'd like to know what happens to the other characters in the series.

Absolutely Appalling Narration
My sympathy is with the author for having a book completely ruined by the narrator. Book 1 was delivered in rapid staccato bursts of truly dreadful accent and pronunciation . So bad I had to skip the first book as it was unintelligible . Things improved very slightly for the remaining 2 books , accent wasn't quite so bad but pronunciation was dire, and listening wasn't a pleasure . From what I could make out the stories seemed interesting which made it even more of a shame. How it made it to air I cannot understand. Truly appalling.

Terrible narrator
I was enjoying the story but just couldn’t face listening to the narrator any more. Even sped up the incorrect pronunciation of words was so grating. People have different pronunciations but this was whole word and meaning changes. Just no :-(

Terrible narration
I tried but even upping speed to 1.7 wasn't enough to make the narration tolerable. I can't honestly say how good the story is as I didn't manage the full first book... Maybe the author could have a makeover as sadly the narration gets in the way.
