About this listen

Why do some people lead happy, successful lives whilst others face repeated failure and sadness? Why do some find their perfect partners whilst others stagger from one broken relationship to the next? What enables some people to have successful careers whilst others find themselves trapped in jobs they detest? And can unlucky people do anything to improve their luck - and lives?

Ten years ago, Professor Richard Wiseman decided to search for the elusive luck factor by investigating the actual beliefs and experiences of lucky and unlucky people. The results reveal a radical new way of looking at luck.

In this audiobook Wiseman identifies the four simple behavioural techniques that have been scientifically proven to help you attract good fortune. He then shows how you can use these methods to revolutionise every area of your life - including your relationships, personal finances and career.

great message however

very repetative on individuals accounts of how it helped them. Great to know...but so many...you get the message of the book early and it's a great one and then the meat of the book is theses examples, the end 45 mins was great like the beginning but I nearly didn't bother and would have missed out. Really unlike me to almost not finish a book. An amazing author though and has written some incredible books without any dragging on surprisingly for a short book. Read this defo, but do bear this in mind so you get the end new insights in discovery, they were great

Interesting insight.

Loved the performance. The book is read with a lot of passion. It is quite interesting to find out about how luck really works. Would recommend the book to anyone who wants to take their lives into their hands.

Repetitive in parts but overall a decent listen!

As someone who believes heavily in semantics. I have always been against people who flippantly put things down to this elusive word “luck” however,
Richard provides another views which is more aligned with my personal experiences and therefor belief.

The basic premise is that we create are own luck by our initial thoughts as well as how we react to situations.

What I discovered and will work on is my interpretation of “bad luck” and really understanding that “bad” could be a lot worse.

This book has come at a good time whereby it serves as a enjoyable refresher.

Thank you Richard and Peter.

I was a bit sceptical at first

I wasn't sure how I felt about the idea of "luck" and the science behind it, but actually, this book describes it very well! It's not a matter of chance or lucky charms or superstitions, or just "being born lucky".

I certainly agree with a lot of the ideas presented here and realised that I already follow some of the principles myself.

Really fascinating listen and have already recommended it to a few friends.

Luck made scientific

Having read the book and enjoyed it, I decided to listen to the audio book. Great reminder of why I'm so "lucky".

Interesting and Persuasive

I was a little pessimistic about this book and the idea of how a positive attitude makes you lucky but it won me round. Very interesting examples which brought the theories to life.

Good but not his best

I enjoyed listening to this but I feel there's a lot about the characters in the experiment and I think that wasn't always actually useful. I think he could have made this book half the length and still got all the points across. Still very interesting.

Chapters are Chaotic

The chapters are not structured easily for audible, and some chapters make you jump far ahead into something. It made it harder to consume and go back to certain chapters for valuable information you may have overlooked, or even missed.

Ecen though this is my only complaint for this book, it influenced a lot towards the of the book itself. The important topics I want to re-hear because I forgot due noise outside while walking. Time flying and unaware of it, the crucial information vanishes.

It is one the longest times for me to finish book of any other, and therefore it has one less star.

If orginizing the chapters were more correct on when each topic started and finished, it would be way more easier to digest and consume this knowledge.
