About this listen
Molly Cook is almost 30, with dismal career prospects, and has given up on saving the world. It might be the 90s, and everything's shoulder pads, Doc Martens, and The X-Files, but people won't budge on gay rights. Molly decides to give a PhD a whirl but finds herself more interested in campus politics...and her strict and sexy statistics professor.
Professor Carmen Vaughn is stuck in small-town Maryland with smarmy blowhards for colleagues and ungrateful students who can't handle her high standards. She has no intention of coming out, least of all to Molly, a troublemaking grad student who can't stop picking fights with the conservative faculty.
But when Molly discovers evidence implicating a homophobic colleague in a scandal, Carmen can't ignore it - even if the subject hits too close to home. As the two women work together to make their case, they grow closer than Carmen ever imagined. But she absolutely refuses to get involved with a student.
The thing is, as the chemistry builds between them, Molly isn't sure she wants to be a grad student anymore...if she ever did.
Contains mature themes.

Fabulous
I do enjoy the way Quinn Ivins crafts an interesting, intelligent story around actual issues and a lovely romance. I’ve run out of new books by Ivins so I’ll have to make do with rereads until another comes out - soon I hope.

Great book
I really enjoyed the book although I don’t know much about what the course consisted of.
This book was a really slow burn book which I love.
I was rooting for Molly and Carmen to be together, Molly and Carmen had good chemistry.
I will say I would of like more of them together as a couple, as the book does have a short chapter on this, but I still feel it needed more.
I also feel it would of been nice to see Carmen meet Molly’s family and I would of liked Molly to have met Carmen’s family.
I think we should have seen Carman come out to her parents as I feel that’s so important in someone’s coming out experience.
Narration was brilliant as always with Lori Prince.

Loved the slow build and characters
Initially I found the slowness to be a hinderance but so glad I persevered. It will appear in my ‘Favourites’ and I know it will be read over again several times. Sincere thanks to the author & narrator for all your hard work🙏🙏

Loved this intelligent F/F romance
Who knew math could be so interesting? ;) Could not stop listening to this well written, intelligent and heartwarming story set in 1990s US. It has a really well thought out plot and a great narrator. As a listener with a visual disability, I hope Tantor Audio / Audible make all of Quinn Ivins writing available as audiobooks narrated by Lori Prince because I cannot get enough of both their work.

Excellent listen.
This is a brilliant book, with an interesting story, and believable, likeable main characters. It is one I have revisited several times. I don’t leave reviews as often as I should, but I feel I owe it with this one as I enjoyed it so much. I always read reviews before I decide to use a credit so I hope I can persuade some readers to give this one a chance.
Narration is perfect too.

I was hooked from the start!!
I loved this book and was hooked from the start. It had so much more going for it than a simple love story. The characters were completely believable in all their different guises. As someone who came out in the 90s, I completely understand how difficult it was. The attitudes of all the different characters was well written and completely believable. The inclusion of the Clinton impeachment was done well as was the support shown for Monica Lewinsky. I can’t wait to read more by this author. The narration by Lori Price was brilliant as usual

Well written, really interesting story line which described well the difficulties and social background of the time. The main characters were likeable, believable and the author kept the slow burn of their romance very much to the fore of the story.
