About this listen

"Let me out! Please...." My tiny fists pound the door, but my voice reverberates off the stone walls and hangs in the air as if suspended by spider’s webs. No one comes....

Years later, a woman is found face-down in a pool of blood. Detective Lottie Parker is called to the remote farmhouse in the bleak Irish countryside. Inside, she finds a scene that speaks of uncontrollable rage: glasses smashed, chairs ripped apart, the woman’s body broken.

A black rain jacket makes Lottie think she knows the killer’s identity, but then she finds a disturbing clue: is the murder linked to an old case at St Declan’s asylum - a case investigated by her own father, just before he took his life?

When another victim is left without her tongue on the hospital steps, and a young girl goes missing, Lottie knows she has to act fast. Can she face her own demons and uncover the truth before another life is taken?

An absolutely gripping book from the best-selling author of The Missing Ones and The Stolen Girls. If you love Rachel Abbott, Angela Marsons, or Robert Dugoni, you’ll be completely hooked.

a twisted web

while I really enjoyed this book, It didn't 'grab' me with quite the same intensity as the first two. I found it difficult to keep track of some of the relationships of characters at times. however, I felt it dealt with its topic very well and twisted its way to a satisfactory conclusion. the narration was great.

Fabulous narrator

The narrator was superb and I will look out for more books read by her. The characters were interesting and complex with lots of personality touches that made them very realistic. I was completely engaged from the beginning ro the end of the book. The reason for the missing star is down to some credibility-stretching moments in the plot when I found myself thinking: come on! call for back up, or take the obvious action, not the one that allows the perpetrator to keep going! Overall though, a really fresh and twisty listen.

Brilliant! Couldn’t stop listening!

Such a compelling story so many facets to it lead me to many sleepless nights as I couldn’t stop listening to the twists and turns in Lottie’s working life and personal one - never saw the twist at the end! Wonderful!

Another great book from Patricia Gibney

I love the Detective Lottie Parker series of books and this one is no exception. in fact, I think they just keep getting better!
A gritty crime story with so many twists and turns you might get whiplash!
An older woman is found murdered in her daughters house. The daughter is missing. Her granddaughter was at a sleepover and is now staying with the neighbours.
a drug cartel, family secrets, and more murders, it's like a roller coaster ride you won't want to get off!

The narration is another perfect performance from Michele Moran.

A solid 4 stars. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series!
