Summary

The instant Sunday Times bestselling debut novel

This audiobook contains an exclusive Q&A between Sheila Atim and the author.

ONLINE RUMOURS. REAL LIFE TROUBLE.

Ola Olajide, a high-profile journalist, is marrying the love of her life in one month's time. Young, beautiful, successful – she and her fiancé Michael seem to have it all.

That is, until one morning when they both wake up to the same message:

‘Oh my god, have you seen The List?’

It began as a list of anonymous allegations about abusive men. Now it has been published online. Ola made her name breaking exactly this type of story. She would usually be the first to cover it, calling for the men to be fired. Except today, Michael’s name is on there.

With their future on the line, Ola gives Michael an ultimatum to prove his innocence by their wedding day, but will the truth of what happened change everything for both of them?

hands down one of the most captivating books I've ever heard. Every character well crafted, brilliant performances.

Such a inspiring and important story to listen

I've just finished listening to this and OH MY GOD! This is such an important to read/listen. Remember people, everyone is innocent until proven guilty!

So nuanced, well rounded, critical and conflicting. So well done!

Provoked so many feelings and conflicts and shows so many sides and nuances to a topic.

Gripping and thought-provoking

I loved this book and initially did not think I would be interested.. but it was a fantastic book to listen to. I really enjoyed the two perspectives, and as wild as it was, the ending was unexpected. However, I could imagine that happening in reality

Intriguing thought provoking storyline

loved the reading, probably the best narrated audio book I have listened to. storyline all in all is excellent, a little slow in parts but reflects the unknown in the reality of the events. thought provoking

I loved this.

Definitely one of the best stories I’ve listened to! My family are glad I’m finished as they can stop hearing about Ola and Michael and all my theories ! 🤣 can’t wait to check out other work by the author and I must say the narrators both did a wonderful job, really really enjoyed this!

Good concept but nothing happens

Tho first two chapters are interesting and you want to find out what happens but the answer is basically nothing, it just goes on and on along the same theme of confused feminist writer finds her husband-to-be on a list of sexual harassers. It’s about social media and the destructive force of unproven allegations but there is no plot. The characters are a trendy black couple, there’s a lot of roadman dialogue, but it stops being entertaining and just gets really boring.

Definitely worth a listen

Very good story, I sympathised with both main characters, relatable with the millions of anonymous trolls online all the time nowadays.
My only criticism & it’s a small one, I felt the story was dragged out quite a lot around mid point when Ola & Michael fell out after the wedding. But what do I know? It probably was just me who felt that way.

Have a listen, the narrators are great, they really bring it to life.

Loved it! Powerful, and thought provoking

Excellent storyline with very relatable characters brought to life by the superb performances. I listened while getting ready in the morning, on the way to work, in lunch breaks, on the way home and before bed. Couldn't get enough of it. Really uncomfortable at times because of the content but I'm not at all surprised that it'll be on our TVs soon. Well deserved. Highly recommended.
