Summary
‘A stunner! Without a doubt, one of the best crime novels of the year!’ – No.1 international bestseller Jeffery Deaver
In search of a new life, seventeen-year-old Adriana Clark’s family moves to the ancient, ocean-battered Isle of Mull, far off the coast of Scotland. Then she goes missing. Faced with hostile locals and indifferent police, her desperate parents turn to private investigator Sadie Levesque.
Sadie is the best at what she does. But when she finds Adriana’s body in a cliffside cave, a seaweed crown carefully arranged on her head, she knows she’s dealing with something she’s never encountered before.
The deeper she digs into the island’s secrets, the closer danger creeps – and the more urgent her quest to find the killer grows. Because what if Adriana is not the last girl to die?
Beautifully haunting with twists and turns you’ll never see coming, The Last Girl to Die is your next obsession waiting to happen. Perfect for fans of Stuart MacBride and L.J. Ross.
‘Oh my goodness, I absolutely and totally loved this book. Outstanding and compelling, it gave me whiplash from all the twists and turns.’ – million-copy bestseller Angela Marsons
‘An adroit and highly atmospheric mystery.’ – Times Crime Club
‘Fields has a knack of keeping you gripped for hours.’ – The Sun
‘Gloriously dark and twisty.’ – Fabulous

Brilliantly done
I was a little hesitant about this book because it had very mixed reviews, but I really really loved it
It’s a slightly dark thriller set in the Isle of Mull .
I thought the narrator Jaimi Barbakoff was perfect for the character Sadie. She totally brought out all the emotions of this book.
I also liked that they used to Robin Laing for the island’s narration (might sound strange , but it does make sense)

wonderful
Wonderful slow paced thriller that ramped up towards the end and by the way an ending I didn't see coming . Characters so well developed and language so descriptive I felt the chill of the North Atlantic. HIghly recommended .

Giving the island a voice is great
The plot is very good, the characters divers and interesting (but a lot more serious than any Scottish people I have ever met in my life).
My stumbling block was the narrator, an oddly prissy, slightly smug, slightly bland character that seemed somehow incomplete.

The Narration!
Firstly I’m a big fan of Helen Fields and narrator Robin Laing but whoever decided to bring Jaimi Barbakoff in as a third narrator….. well to say the very least is totally beyond me. I could not listen to it. Her voice just grated on my ears. Absolutely dreadful. It does seem unfair of me to leave a review as I only managed a few chapters but just couldn’t go on. My recommendation is listen to a sample first, I didn’t.

Full of intrigue
Love this book, very different from her other books didn’t expect the ending, and I won’t. I won’t elaborate as you need to hear the book.

I didn't expect the ending
Another great story by Helen Fields and nice reference to characters in her other books. The ending isn't your typical cliffhanger!!

So good!
I love Helen Fields' books, this one definitely didn't disappoint! Really gritty and interesting. I kind of guessed the killer earlier on but not quite.
