Great Story

Angela becomes snowbound at a castle in Scotland, add the Foreign Secretary, Head of British Intelligence and the American Ambassador and you get a story that sparkles with intrigue from start to finish. When a dead body turns up the fun begins.
This is a fabulous book but it is let down by the narrator who does not bring the characters to life and makes it difficult to follow who is speaking.

Good Story Spoiled by Delivery

A good story spoiled by the narrator’s delivery. The voices she gives to each of the characters makes each sound as if they are trying to impress an elocution teacher.

very enjoyable

excellent plot with super incite into the 1900, the narrator took away some of the sharpness of the listen due to her appalling attempt at accents especially the women

Good story spoiled by narration

Entertaining mystery as expected but my enjoyment was spoiled by the narrator whose overly precise enunciation I found irritating.

love the story lines, clever and subtle.

please please get a different narrator, this is clearly not a real English person, it's completely wrong, with lots of incorrect pronunciations and just grating and painful to english ears. Love the story but so spoilt by the narrator

Good book, terrible narration

I’ve read the book before and thought I’d get the audio version. A mistake. The narrator is so awful. I don’t understand why they keep getting Americans to attempt upper class English accents, the result is always awful. Perhaps they’re recorded in America where they can’t tell, but I’d say anyone English would be put off instantly by the narration.
Audible only let you review a book when you’ve got a fair way through, so I imagine there are other people who’ve given it up and therefore not been able to review.
