Summary

The heartwarming, funny and engaging memoir behind the best-selling, big-hearted and down-to-earth chefs, The Hairy Bikers. Written and read by the Hairy Bikers themselves.

The Hairy Bikers are known for their many best-selling cookbooks, including The Hairy Dieters, The Hairy Bikers' Perfect Pies, Great Curries and Mums Know Best, and now they are here to tell you how it all started.

Si King and Dave Myers, aka The Hairy Bikers, have lived life to the fullest. They had fantastically rich northern childhoods laced with food and fun, but of course with some tragedy too. But we also get to know the early Bikers - we find out how their friendship developed and all of the mad capers and round-the-world trips they went on. Perfect for their fans, heavily seasoned with warmth, food, love, bikes and bro-mance, the Hairies never fail to entertain.

This download also features a free recipe from The Hairy Bikers' best-selling cookbook, Meat Feasts.

Hilarious, heart breaking and totally humbling

It has been a very long time since I laughed and cried so much at a book. Coming from humble beginnings it just shows if you work hard enough you can do anything. Ive long been fans of the hairy bikers and now I've got to know them a bit more I absolutely love them. Couldn't recommend this book more, be prepared to laugh out loud but get those tissues ready.

A Great Listen 👂

I love watching them on TV and have their cookbooks. This was great to listen to. I listened whole way through as unwell myself. I wanted si to go back home so much. si family was and is part of whole journey, some sad, some happy. Dave whose family came into journey much later. but they both deserve to have a great future, both hard working, an inspiration to those who want to succeed. Well done lads, take time with your family and friends, enjoy what you have worked for.

Great read 📖

Great audiobook

Dave and Si are just as engaging here as they are on the TV, two lovely blokes who, like most people, have had their ups and downs in life.

Both write well and tell their stories with humility, I also enjoyed the contrast between both readers. Glad I bought it.

A Wonderful Hairy Adventure!

I absolutely loved listening to Si and Dave read their memoirs, it was like they were in my head by the fire telling me their stories. It's been great to get to know the lads on a more personal level and I marvel at how hard they've worked to get this far in their career. I felt their emotion as they read through the ups and downs of their life and I hope things continue to be an adventure for them. Bike on Si and Dave!

As Tasty As Their Cooking!

Where does The Hairy Bikers Blood, Sweat and Tyres rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As an autobiogrqaphy, it rates pretty highly. It gives a great insight into their past and the genuine warmth and bonhomie of Dave and SI shines through.

What did you like best about this story?

Their lives before hitting the big time. I simply had no idea of what they did before bursting on to the small screen.

Have you listened to any of Si King and Dave Myers ’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Unfortunately not, but having them read their own story makes the whole thing all the more interesting.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Both Dave and Si's descriptions of their health issues in relation to brain conditions - Dave with his cyst and Si with his aneurysm.

Any additional comments?

I was lucky enough to meet these two lads, when they visited our offices during filming for the first "Meals On Wheels" series. They were really happy to char and have pictures taken. The warmth and friendliness shown then comes across in the book from start to finish.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Loved listening to this audiobook. Si and Dave are great narrators and were truly destined to meet. They demonstrate exactly what friendships should be like, through the thick and thin of life and also show determination in everything they do. They both deserve to be where they have got now, through such hard work. Hope to see them back together soon when Dave is recovered.

better if dave stopped pretending to be posh

Would you listen to another book narrated by Si King and Dave Myers ?

yes I would, I find Simon is honest and trustworthy, Dave would be better if he was more natural and didn't try talking 'posh'

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

most of what Simon says, I don't do spoilers, but I got a lot of what he says

Any additional comments?

at first I wasn't very impressed with this one, basically Dave was trying to much to talk posh instead of just talking as Simon does. in fact I gave up after the first few chapters. I then tried again and I'm glad I did. the story gives a lot of insight into where they both come from, I enjoy watching them on the telly but always had my doubts, (I know that doesn't make sense) but now I see them both from a different perspective. Dave has had his heartaches, again I don't do spoilers, but a lesser man would give up. As for Simon King... who I sometimes saw as an attention seeking clown..(how very wrong I was, and I apologise for that) but he is actually a very decent genuine bloke, who's main drive is his family and friends, this is a no holds barred look at a bloke who just worked and worked and luckily gets his chance, and quite rightly, though it all comes at a price.. this is a very enjoyable moving look at a couple of northern blokes.. good luck to you both
