Do yourself a favour, get this audio book!
Not Spoilers contained!!!
What an addition this book is to the GFL series.
Sigler is a brilliant writer, each book is always better than the last. He shifted up a gear over his last five non-GFL book and the same goes with 'The Gangster'.
The writing is brilliantly tight, the characters are full of depth and drive the very satisfying plot forward.
You will find it tough to do anything else, except ride this tale to its conclusion. I say this at 3am on March 25th 2011.

A rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish
Anyone familiar with the series will be on the edge of their seat. I’ve never gone from anger, sadness disappointment to elation quite like it (In one particular chapter especially!)
Eagerly awaiting more in this series like a junkie awaits its next fix.
No seriously! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!!!

Love love love!
I didn’t have the patience to listen to a new chapter every week on Scott Sigler’s podcast so went for the audiobook and I was not disappointed!
Will now go back to listen again via the podcast just so I can relive the book and catch up on the talky talk!
Enjoy, but it helps if you’re up to speed with the GFL series of books

A great story keeps getting better
Once again the extended Sigler/Empty Set team have excelled themselves. Quite how they manage to develop the complex story arcs, and maintain continuity in so many characters and events truly amazes me.
I am dying to get to the climax of the Quentin Barnes story, but am aware that there are many things that will end when we do, not least of which is the GFL series as we currently know it, which will break my heart....

Came for the football stayed for the mind melting story
I’m not ashamed to say I am one of Scott Siglers so called Junkies. Ever since being introduced to this franchise of books I’ve been hooked to everything Sigler. Scott has a way to get you invested in his stories and the GFL is a magical one that has twists and turns that keep you questioning everything in the “siglerverse” or connecting dots from other books within that same siglerverse of stories. The Gangster is a masterpiece in the GFL book series. The focus on a small time frame is something we haven’t experienced other than in some of the Novellas, usually a main title GFL book focuses on a “season” or year in the life of Quentin Barnes. The Gangster feels like it is actually the ending of the book the Champion. And a prequel to another epic GFL season. So many unknowns going into the next book. Damn but the Siggy knows how to keep you hanging on. I doff thy hat good sir and will be hanging onto the socials to await news of the next book. In the meantime hell I’ll relisten to it all again. Probably my 10th full realisten and the story still doesn’t get old.

Well worth the wait
I have waited years for this book. and I couldn't stop once I started. Scott Sigler has destroyed me once again with his emotional roller coaster style of writing. cannot recommend enough....
