About this listen
Charlie Parker’s investigations draw him into a world of modern furies; goddesses of vengeance.
The Furies: mythological snake-haired goddesses of vengeance, pursuers of those who have committed unavenged crimes. Now, private investigator Charlie Parker is drawn into a world of modern furies. In The Sisters Strange, the return of the criminal Raum Buker to Portland, Maine brings with it chaos and murder, as an act of theft threatens not only to tear apart his own existence but also that of Raum’s former lovers, the enigmatic sisters Dolors and Ambar Strange. And in The Furies, Parker finds himself fighting to protect two more women as the city of Portland shuts down in the face of a global pandemic, but it may be that his clients are more capable of taking care of themselves than anyone could have imagined....
Two novels in one from the master of the modern supernatural thriller.

Entwined stories
There are three loosely entwined stories that keep Parker on his toes. It was good to have the gang back together as the previous book was almost all Angel and Louis. Look forward to the next

I really missed this author and narrator
This book was clearly written during a Global Pandemic period by an author living across two distant countries. JC and JH have been a dream team of so many books... this wasnt up to their exceptional standard but was still very good and far better than 99% of stuff currently put out.... I really enjoyed it. Thankfully, unlike other similar authors in the genre, he is clearly not using 'ghost writers' to do the grunt work which is why all the character don't change personality 13 books into a series!!

Never fails to inpress me
I love Connolly’s Parker series and when Jeff Harding reads a book, you know you’ll enjoy the performance…Plus this title in particular comes with the added benefit of reading/listening 2 books in 1… loved it!

What a writer!
John Connolly is an exceptional writer who puts his significant literary skill into thriller writing that is in a class of its own. After the rather long and convoluted The Nameless Ones, with The Furies Connolly, as I like his books, is back. This time he splices in a generous dose of his dark, dry humour. It's refreshing to note he acknowledges Covid 19 - unlike so many authors who write as if it hasn't happened. He's also to be congratulated for bluntly tackling chauvinism and misogyny - especially in the justice system. My only complaint would be that there's not as much action and hard-hitting drama as I've come to expect. I got used to feeling wide-eyed and wrung out by the end.

Two books in one?
This seems to be a merging of two separate stories - both enjoyable, but neither quite weightier enough to carry their place in the series. As always the narrator is top notch.
