About this listen
A fatal blend of revenge and desire.
After leaving her fiancé at the altar and quitting her job as a Miami cop, Beau Hayley stumbles through life, feeling only resentment. Injustice. Loss. Her mom’s death was called an accident. She’s not convinced. Grieving, she becomes numb to everything except the constant, biting pain of heartbreak and hate. She can see no light. Until she meets James Kelly, a man who seems as damaged as she is, inside and out. And yet despite his twisted, cold façade, he stimulates feelings. Pleasure. He is a respite from her own flaws. A complete mystery.
And impossible to resist.
James Kelly has only one objective. Find the men who murdered his family and kill them all very slowly. But the web of crime and deceit leads him to Beau Hayley, the daughter of the notorious FBI agent who pursued him relentlessly until her death. Beau is not what James expected, and past the darkness that shrouds her, he finds a glimmer of light. Light is addictive. An escape. Beau might be the key to James’ mercy mission, but with dire consequences. So he has to decide - leave her breathing and risk exposing himself, or kill her and continue his mission, still unknown.
Two tortured souls playing one deadly game. But who will survive?

Wow!!
I finished this book in a day and a half. It is the second book in the “Unlawful Men” series by Jodi Ellen Malpas. I knew it would be amazing as all of her books are stunning! Emma Wilder and John Hartley were perfect narrating this book. They really made this book amazing simple because of their narration. I loved their voices.
This book is about Beau and James and how they meet and after a lot of drama, danger and angst actually fall in love. My god they have such a rough road to find their happiness. James is an English alpha but Beau is also an independent and strong woman trying to recover from losing her mother. There is a lot of violence and murder in this book but it’s written so well. The twists in this book are also brilliant.
I don’t want to spoil this book so I won’t go into to much detail but I will say that they do find their happiness after so much heart break. I really enjoyed this book so much. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone.

brilliant narration
both of these narrator's did a fantastic job, both switching between female and male voices to perform the characters brilliantly.
while I had my suspension early on as to who the traitor was, having it confirmed still left me feeling like I really wished it hadn't been that person. however there was another twist about James I hadn't been expecting. the ending definitely leaves you intrigued and I'm about to start the next book. I recommend reading 'The Brit' first before this book as they are interlinked.

Wow!!! The Enigma is a must!!
I love JEM's Alpha's, you never let us down, but the ladies are remarkable. I had a real lol moment when Beau says to James.... "he's not fucking real" I could really picture her doing it. The Brit was epic, The Enigma was immense, what ride will The Ressurrection be!!!!

Bring on book 3!!!
Firstly I’m loving this series and cannot wait to start the next book. And continue not only James and Beaus story, but also reconnect with Danny and Rose.
This book wasn’t as good as book one (The Brit)
A big part of that was Beau, I’m not sure I connected with the character. I absolutely adored Rose from book one, she was damaged, abused and traumatised. But also funny, brave, sassy, strong, really endearing.
Beau was whiny and aggravating, not overly likeable, and I hate saying that. Hopefully she’ll improve in the coming books.
Loved James!!! Also loved Otto and Goldie, need more from those two.

Annoying character
The overall story line is very good, however beau’s indecisive thoughts and actions and explanations were so annoying throughout the book. I just wanted to shake her
