Summary

Book 3 of The End Times

The End Times have come to Ulthuan. The battle that began millennia ago will finally end, as the druchii march upon the soil of their ancestral home once again and Malekith claims his destiny.

Listen to it because...

It's Gav Thorpe writing about elves, finishing the story he began in The Sundering trilogy. Storylines decades in the making reach their conclusion in an epic that changes the fate of the elves forever.

The story:

The End Times are coming. With Naggaroth besieged by the hordes of Chaos, the Witch King Malekith makes the decision to abandon the Land of Chill and make one final attempt to seize the throne of Ulthuan. As the druchii march upon the soil of their ancestral home once again, long-laid plans come to fruition and treachery blooms, bringing Malekith closer than ever to his goal. All that stands in the Witch King's way is the Regent of Ulthuan, Prince Tyrion, and the darkness within Malekith's own soul, the call of the Curse of Khaine.

Annoying and poorly stuctured.

My least favourite of the end times books so far. The near constant flashbacks that happen over and over really derail the plot, then the large time skip under the reason of "too many stories to be told"

Entertaining but confusing.

A story I love and reccomended but with one flaw in audio format. The story shifts between present day and the past. In writing that's no issue as different fonts show which time events are happening in.

unfortunately the audio book has no way of showing the difference, leaving the listener confused as to what Is going on.

The narrator is okay but the story is fun

I liked this book it had a lot of flashbacks to Malekiths past which was really interesting and will be really useful for people who don’t know the lore to get context about situations and events, while also getting Malekiths thought process, I would have liked a bit more insight into the thought processes Tyrion, Morathi, Teclis and Imrik though. Because we get all the context we need for Malekith but mostly only hear about the others. The Narrator was okay he could do 2-3 different male voices well the rest sounded like cheap copies he really needs to expand his range especially when it comes to female characters. But the basic narration was great.

Excellent performance but difficult to follow

Definitely my least favourite of this series, despite having a keen interest and some pre-knowledge of the elven side of the lore. Honestly, if I didn't already know the basic framework of the elven lore then I would have had utterly no clue what was going on at any given moment with all the time jumps going back and forth with little warning. The same characters interacting with similar and sometimes the same people in back to back scenes with little indication of the time shift. If I didn't already know about the past elven shenanigans, and therefore able to recognise most of the time jumps, then I would have been completely lost.

I loved it!

I loved every second of this story. Like I have the other Endtimes books so far. I am just happy to hear anything that has to do with Warhammer fantasy tbh. And these stories kinda go all over the place in the old world. So I feel like I get everything I want.

Great story!

Thoroughly enjoyable exploration of the politics of the High, Dark and Wood Elves, and the inevitable confrontation between Malekith and Tyrion. Exciting and tense plot, very well written and quite well read too. I look forward to the next End Times book!
