About this listen
One of the most fascinating of our Founding Fathers, Franklin was a polymath, a practical statesman, and an incomparable cynic and wit. The Compleated Autobiography by Benjamin Franklin, faithfully compiled and edited from Franklin's papers, reveals why he became a spokesman for American independence; his views on the Constitution; what he really thought of his fellow patriots, like Adams and Jefferson; his candid views on French women, the Penn family, and his own faith; and much more.

Misleading. Not the whole Autobiography.
A misleading title.
This is ONLY the incomplete ending to his autobiography, that he didn't finish and accounts for 30+ years of the latter part of his life, put together by others from his papers, writings and notes.
The large part of the Autobiography that he completed you will have to read first, elsewhere, before you read this last section.
However this is a very interesting part of his life because it includes the period of the War of independence and the founding of the Republic.
The larger first part that he wrote covers his life from boyhood through to his business careers and family life and gives the reader the picture as to how this most interesting and widely talented and disciplined man became the great intellect and statesman that he was. The shaping of a polymath.
This book lays out the pinnacle of his career and the important latter years and his contributions as founding father.
As with the complete part this continues as a most interesting, informative, highly entertaining and above all inspirational read that should appeal to everyone.
An autobiography that should be read by everyone, not just students of American history.
Franklin will always be my favourite American.
An extremely interesting and wise man.
Great narration that captures the personality of Franklin perfectly.
