About this listen
Seven days. Three killings. And one woman who knows too much....
Crime reporter Annika Bengtzon is woken by a phonecall in the early hours of a wintry December morning. An explosion has ripped apart the Olympic Stadium. And a victim has been blown to pieces.
As Annika delves into the details of the bombing and the background of the victim, there is a second explosion. These chilling crimes could be her biggest news story yet. When her police source reveals they are hot on the heels of the bomber, Annika is guaranteed an exclusive with her name on it. But she is uncovering too much, and soon finds herself the target of a deranged serial killer....

Very good story.
Fascinating story, interesting background, subtle and well read.
4 stars - which is my 9 out of 10. Don't throw 10s out easily!

Not very good
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Somebody who can keep up with the fsst talking
What was most disappointing about Liza Marklund’s story?
It's read so quickly I don't know enough about the story to be able to properly answer
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She spoke too quickly and didn't have a very engaging voice
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Bomber?
Don't know. Didn't finish reading it because it annoyed me so much
Any additional comments?

Always download a sample
If I'd downloaded a sample I'd have saved my money. My mistake. It's pretty badly read by an actress so famous for her voice over on Master Chef that it's impossible to take her seriously here.
But putting aside the children's fairy story reading style the main problem with this awful book is it reads like it was written by a 10 year old.
We are treated to what amounts to a tedious attempt to portray life in a newspaper as seen through the eyes of an insufferable main character who you are praying will be murdered. Nothing is realistic. We have editors of a modern newspaper waxing lyrical about how the press must never write about the private lives of the famous. Police officers divulging top secret information to a journalist because she is a little bit insistent, unrealistic side characters popping up with irrelevant back stories then disappearing for ever.
I always finish a book once I've started I even read a Dan Brown book once and managed to crawl to the finish line. However I couldn't stomach this tripe for another minute and abandoned it just into the second half when I realised I didn't care if every single unrealistic unbelievable character in the story were to suddenly drop dead. Whodunnit? Don't care. Does the main character triumph over the cartoon-like baddies in her office? Couldn't give a hoot.
Awful. Avoid.
