Badger and Pot.
Great stories adequately read. There are some odd accents also.... but anything read by Badger and Pot must be at least acceptable. Even when there is a mispronunciation, it's forgiven as it is after all, Badger. Bad accent?? Blame Pot!

Good ghost stories of a certain age, which still bear hearing.
Overall, very enjoyable. One thing which detracts from the performance is the Americanised mispronunciation of archaic words like, “blackguard” as “black guard” instead of “blaggard” and the mispronunciation of British, African or Indian place names. A properly professional director or actor should make it their business to ensure that unfamiliar words are pronounced correctly. The male voice actor seemed to make only a patchy attempt at doing this. This is a criticism of not only this book, but also several other Audible titles.

Great stories, poorly read
I love a good ghost story, and among my favourite authors are Wilde, James & Poe. However I think this was a poor choice of narrator for such stories. Very monotone, with little inflection or suspense. I am not a anglophile, but I believe, as many of the stories are by English authors, this collection would have benefitted from a British narrator.

Classic tales
Some stories stand the test of time, whereas others really show their age in the attitude to race, religion and equality.

So these are the best ghost stories ever told are they?
Not sure about some of the stories in this collection. That is to say, I'm not sure that if I were editing them I'd necessarily have included some of them since to my mind they aren't, strictly speaking, ghost stories. I'll give an example. 'Open Window' is more about a woman with a fanciful imatination and a talent for telling convincing lies than about a real ghost. I felt the naration was flat in places and the accents were a mite strange. However they did their best and that's a lot. I'd read it again anyway. If you're an aspiring writer of short fictuion and you'll try your hand at anything then read this one. If you're an aspiring reader of audio books read this one. it'll show you how not to do it. If you just like ghost stories then give it a listen but don't be surprised if you find some you disagree with in terms of their inclusion in this collection.

poor narration
I enjoy a good ghost story but I found the narration ruined this book for me. The narrator was flat, boring to listen to and used some strange accents. It certainly ruined any atmosphere I was hoping for.

Skip this tittle
Great stories read too quickly with appalling accents... the British and German accents are shockingly bad. It is difficult to follow as a result. The narrator is out of his depth and ruins some classic stories.... Pity a great collection If narrated well .
