Summary
A dead body in the prayer hall of a mosque isn't the best start to the day for anyone. But for Detective Inspector Harold Porter it's all in a day's work. The problem is that DI Porter has been given a new partner - a young Muslim detective by the name of Mohammed Salim Nasri.
Nasri and Porter are both British and both cops, but they look at the world - and the case - from completely different viewpoints. And when that case includes Islamic terrorists and knife-wielding fanatics that can only mean problems.
As Porter and Nasri work to solve the case, MI5 is watching over their shoulders, and one wrong move could mean a major terrorist incident.

I hope that this is a new series
Harry Porter has a lot to learn in terms of the correct way to handle some people and some situations. Sal, needs to stop second guessing people’s opinion of him. They need each other and Ned to learn how to communicate with each other.
I think that they’ll get there. I also hope that this is the beginning of a new series. It has mileage.
The narrators are both very good, especially Homer Todiwala. Weirdly, I found myself missing Paul Thornley...

Leather at his best
Stephen Leather gets it bang on again with this is excellent murder novel that explores current cultural themes and issues. The story is seen through the eyes of the two main characters to give you the perspective of 'old school' and 'new school' policing and how the styles compliment each other. Leather's attention to detail makes the background of the story colourful and realistic. This novel shows that Leather is not just about Spider Shepherd or Jack Nightingale. Highly recommended, excellent narration as well.

Very Disappointing!

Best Stephen Leather book yet!
Loved it, gritty realism great story and I was left thinking I learned somthing about todays societal issues here in the UK.

Didn't get on with this at all
Huge Stephen Leather fan, but this audiobook I could not get on with, mainly down to the following:
Dual readers: I couldn't make head nor tail between each of the characters, and I listen a lot whilst I'm driving and at some point in the first 45 minutes I got lost as to who I was listening to and ended up listening to try and figure out who it was talking.
Plot: Cliched racist cop with cliched Muslim side-kick, and seriously would people really damage a crime-scene as per described, trying to avoid minor spoilers here.
Story: at certain points it reads like a procedural manual for detectives, yawn inducing and mind numbing.
Sorry Stephen, I loved the Runner - probably one of my favourite books of yours, but this one just doesn't hit the mark.

Uncharacteristic poor novel
I usually enjoy a Steven Leather novel but this one i found really annoying one dymentiodnal stereotypical characters the racist police officers/staff. I didn't find the split narration added anything apart from making the story difficult to follow.

Is this a Stephen Leather classic ?
I have to say of all the Stephen Leather books I have read this is not my favourite. I found it difficult to follow as we passed between the two main characters. It does not reach the excitement of a Spider book, I am quite disappointed.
