Summary
When the Awaken Virus hit humanity, men became ravenous, uncontrollable beasts. They wrought destruction across the globe—now the humans who remain live in constant fear.
Mallory
As a reporter, I’ve seen firsthand what the Awaken virus does to people you love, turning them into mindless beasts intent on violence. That’s why I’m staying safe inside my apartment. Women are getting kidnapped right off the streets in broad daylight. Rumors say there’s a group of Awakened living under New York, and they’re responsible for the disappearances. The old me would have sniffed out that story, but post-apocalypse Mal is too scared to go digging for clues.
Life apparently has other plans for me, however—cue an Awakened showing up at my damn door. He’s huge, imposing, with piercing gray eyes like a thunderstorm, and a mouth he insists he *needs* to put on me. He also claims they aren’t all the destructive beasts I’ve seen on the news. I’m not sure what to believe.
When the captivating “enforcer” asks me to live in his compound for two weeks and report to the rest of the world how normal the men really are, I surprise us both by accepting his strange invitation. I shouldn’t have said yes, so why did I agree?
My presence digs up something dark and primal in him, though, and I’m terrified to find out if I’m his salvation, or complete downfall.
The Alpha Awakens is the first book in the Alpha Compound series, by Anna Fury. This dystopian omegaverse romance features a snarky heroine and broken alpha finding their own HEA.

Fabulous Spicy Dystopian Fantasy
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️
If you’re looking for an easy audiobook listen full of spice and possessive alpha males set in an dystopian world then look no further. Also, when I say an easy audiobook read I don’t mean this in a negative way in the slightest.
The blurb for the book had me instantly intrigued and I gobbled up this audiobook in no time at all, I actually couldn’t put it down, I listened to it out walking, on my commute, at home and at work. I needed to know what was going to happen next, with so many twists and turns and uncertainties it definitely kept me hooked,
The spice is top notch, no shocker there for me though as Anna knows exactly what she’s doing when it comes to that.
I thought the concept and storyline was excellent. It was both cute and edgy all at the same time. The character interactions cover an absolute range, Mal as a character is great and kind of adorable in her stern but shy nature. Orion is both possessive and respectful and they are a perfect blend for this story.

Fantastic original story
This shifter romance is an Omegaverse dystopian story of Mallory and Orion, a journalist and an alpha that will capture your heart, the world-building is fantastic I love everything, then get the dystopian vibe and this story setting was amazing. The story is quite good, it hooks you from the start and never lets you go, every character is so interesting, and I can't wait to find out more in the following books. The audiobook narrated by Kelsey Navarro and James Anderson Foster was very well done, I truly enjoyed how they complemented each other and did a good performance narrating every character. I strongly recommend you get the audio.

Had such potential
It could have been good, but ended up being one spicy scene after the other. Found myself skipping ahead in the hopes of getting to an actual story.

Dystopian Omegaverse Romance
This was my first Anna Fury’s book. This is the first book in the Alpha Compound Series, a dystopian omegaverse romance. Mallory and Orion’s story is passionate, and entertaining. Orion is an alpha, enigmatic, broken, and protective. Mallory, a reporter, is sassy, strong, smart, and determined. They are both intriguing characters. They share a sizzling hot chemistry. The world building is original, and intriguing. The storyline is captivating. Looking forward to listening to Wake Up, Alpha, the next book in the series. Kelsey Navarro and James Anderson Foster are fantastic narrators. They did an excellent job narrating this audiobook. I enjoyed it. (Audibly Addicted)

A different Omegaverse but intriguing!
The Alpha Awakens (Alpha Compound #1) by Anna Fury
Narrated by Kelsey Navarro and Hanes Anderson Foster
This was a different view into the Omegaverse. Here we’re seeing how the awakening has changed the world. In this story there’s seemingly a virus that is changing only males in the population. Needlessly most women hide and fear dating with the fear guys can be changed at any moment.
Mal’s world changed when years ago she witnessed her twin become a beast. It’s years since she saw him being dragged off and now women are disappearing off the streets.
Orion is part of a pack of Alphas as they wish to be called not the awakened. As an enforcer of their pack he saves Mal from one of his pack. He’s asked to return and observe her. When he witnesses Mal pleasuring herself he has to have her. These two haven’t had sex for years so when Mal lets this beast inside, her mind can’t believe she did, yet she’s in lust of him. When they don’t fit doing what they wanted to happen. He leaves aghast at hurting this female. He finds out she’s a reporter and is afraid of what that may mean for his pack.
When the pack leader Mitchell wants Orion to go back and ask the reporter to tell their story he’s hesitant but does as asked. Surprisingly Mal takes him up on the offer to go see how the pack lives, and how they aren’t the beasts everyone believes them to be.
They are other factions of awakened who are not as humane as Orion’s pack and we get to see how these others are when Mal is taken. Thankfully she’s saved. But there’s more happening here and this book is just the beginning of this new world.
Kelsey shows Mal’s curiosity and her ability to go with Orion to see what his pack is all about. She’s taken by Orion and his pack and she gains respect for them. But she’s cautious and intrigued and has an undeniable desire for her alpha.
Orion opens up to Mal and he knows she’s his Omega now he needs to explain it to her and hopefully she accepts him. James has a soothing voice for Orion who has compassion and is wonderful at showing us how his life changed and showing us his pack are really just trying to live the best life they can. His voices of the others helped see the world of his pack as well as the other awakened who are the cruel creatures that are feared.
This was an great start for a series where we will hopefully see the rest of Orion’s pack meeting their mates. I’m curious what the chemist has to do in this situation and need to know more.

Dystopian Omegaverse Romance
The Alpha Awakens by Anna Fury is a dystopian omegaverse romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kelsey Navarro and James Anderson Foster. This is the first book in the Alpha Compound series.
This is the first book of Anna's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I enjoyed the relationship between Orion and Mallory. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Wake Up, Alpha to be released on audio so I can get Samson and Pen's story.
Kelsey and James did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dystopian romances or omegaverse romances.
