About this listen

Growing up, I knew my older brother’s best friend thought of me as “Logan’s kid sister”. For me, though, our next-door neighbor Colin felt like anything but a sibling. Whenever I spied on him through my bedroom window, as he banged away, shirtless, on his drum kit, I felt sensations inside me I’d never felt for my actual brother. But when we moved away and Colin’s band took off like a rocket, I knew my tweener fantasies would never become a reality.

Fast-forward nine years to my brother’s wedding, when I saw Colin again and we shared a secret, drunken kiss that rocked my world. The next morning, Colin blamed the alcohol. Said we should pretend the kiss, and my unfortunate text afterward, never happened.

Now that I’m heading to LA to work for Colin and crash at his place, though, all bets are off. I’m determined to make Colin swoon for me, the same way I’ve always done for him. Because no matter what he insisted, Colin’s body during our kiss, and the shocking thing he whispered into my ear right afterward, made it clear he doesn’t really think of me as his little sister, any more than I do.

Simply brilliant, totally swoony and oh so hot!

This aptly titled love story by the fabulously talented Lauren Rowe is a Brother's best friend to lovers romance.
Colin and Amy's love story is very sweet, emotional and extremely passionate. It is also filled with lots of love and laughter and lets not forget "the sure thing."
Colin is charming, cocky, loveable and emotionally stunted. Amy was the girl next door who is now a strong, confident woman who knows her worth.
Lauren couldn't have cast a better Colin and Amy in my opinion. Joe Arden and Desiree Ketchum are not only one of my narrating dream teams but they do an absolutely amazing job of bringing the characters to life.
Joe's smooth, velvety voice was the perfect choice. He portrayed Colin's confident yet vulnerable and oh so swoony personality magnificently. Desiree did an impeccable job of showcasing Amy's wants and needs, passions, desires and also showed off the self doubt Amy suffers perfectly.
Even though Colin is a rockstar turned movie star he is just a normal, down to earth guy who will do anything for those he loves. Colin and Amy make the perfect couple and the road to their HEA may be a rocky one but they give us an entertaining adventure along the way to finding it. Throw in original music that will melt your heart, "the sure thing" that is Holy Mary Mother of God so freaking hot! Meddling Mothers and true friendship and this book will have you going through every emotion but ultimately you will Swoon over this love story!

Love it!!!

I absolutely love this book especially the music tracks on it. It’s rare that sound or music is used within an audiobook. The story is one of my favourites from the River records series and I highly recommend this book. Joe Arden and Desiree Ketchum are fantastic as usual 🙂

Excessive use of the word swoon !

It’s a really nice story but with what feels like the excessive and forced insertion of the word swoon it become annoying and tbh a bit cringeworthy possibly more with the audio version than if reading.

Underwhelmed

Although it says this is a standalone, it obviously is not.  It threw me constantly referring to so many people in the Morgan series that it definitely would be better experienced having read that first.

It's a sweet love story (the word swoon dropping every five minutes drove me insane) about Amy who has insecurities about whether she is "layable" or not, which I found superficial, as it seemed to be her only goal.

She has had the hots for her childhood neighbour, Colin, her brother's best friend  who is now a famous drummer.  So, when they meet up again after a number of years, sparks fly, and as they say, the rest is history.

It's low on angst, the side characters are fun, the narration is excellent, especially with the injection of songs throughout, which is a nice touch, but it just didn't hit the spot for me. Shame.
