About this listen

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes. Five of this year's freshmen are extra special. They have a secret aside from their abilities - one that they must guard from even their classmates.

For every one person in the world with abilities they can control, there are three who lack such skill. These lesser super beings - Powereds, as they are called - have always been treated as burdens and second-class citizens. Though there has been ample research in the area, no one has ever succeeded in turning a Powered into a regular human, let alone a Super.

That is, until now....

Epic story

Truly engrossed in the story from start to finish. Very in depth characters with great back stories, and never a dull moment. The only snag with this was the incessant use of "said Nick", "Said Vince" after each characters lines. other than that, I'm very much looking forward to delving into book #2

Fun tale, good characters, excellent narration.

This book is a bit of an oddity. Obviously aimed at a teenage audience but with vocabulary and a writing style that belies that. That said, it's an enjoyable tale with good character development and a decent twist that leaves me wanting to know what happens next.

The narrator is excellent. His speech is exceptionally clear, emphasis well used and his voices perfect for the characters. I would go so far as to say the narration alone makes this audio book more enjoyable than it may have been with a lesser narrator.

Good bang for your buck. Long but good all through

An interesting take on a school for teen/young adult super powered people. Not the deepest of plots, but certainly entertaining and deffinitely worth a listen imho.

A compelling listen

A compelling listen that crescendo's nicely. Somewhat predictable, but still a fun time. Definitely listening to the next!

Great Story

Kyle did a great job with the voices but, as has been said, when he says “Nick said” or Alice replied it’s as jarring as hell

Great story though

Nice plot shame about the style

A good listen but what a shame about the style of writing, I have never been a fan of having a large amounts of very short chapters and this book has a lot of them! It breaks up the flow of the story to much as does the proliferation of Nick says, Alice replied etc etc sorry but it's just not needed however overall a nice plot and storyline and I will persevere and read book 2.

Excellent narrator but story drags

The voice actor is amazing, his range of voices are very distinct, you can recognise which characters are talking at all times.

The story's good but some parts seem to drag on that don't go anywhere, like they go on a camping trip and nothing that moves the story on happens but you are listening to it for over half an hour.

I will still be getting the next book when I get my free credit because it still was a pretty good time which surprised me because I'm not really into superheroes anymore, bit to over saturated now

Harry Potter meets Xmen.

I really enjoyed it.

I wasn't sure I would and the narration took a little to get used (some of the characters voices where similar ( e.g. Thomas/Roy)) to but otherwise it was great!
