Summary
A witty, moving tale of monsters and modern life from the award-winning author of Cackle and The Return. For listeners looking for a story of sisterhood, complicated families and love with a bit more bite...
Rory Morris isn't thrilled to be moving back to her hometown, even if it is temporary. There are bad memories there. But her twin sister, Scarlett, is pregnant, estranged from the baby's father, and needs support, so Rory returns to the place she thought she'd put in her rearview. After a night out at a bar where she runs into an old almost-flame, she hits a large animal with her car. And when she gets out to investigate, she's attacked.
Rory survives, miraculously, but life begins to look and feel different. She's unnaturally strong, with an aversion to silver—and suddenly the moon has her in its thrall. She's changing into someone else—something else, maybe even a monster. But does that mean she's putting those close to her in danger? Or is embracing the wildness inside of her the key to acceptance?
A darkly comedic, part horror, part love story and a brilliantly layered portrait of trauma, rage, and vulnerability.

Feminist and Fierce
I listened to Cackle first, and loved it. So I was really pleased when this story sucked me in quickly too.

good story well read
I enjoyed this a lot, the story breezed along, never feeling too bogged down with unnecessary detail or exposition. My only gripe was the strange pronunciation of a single word. The is a point in where the main character mentions a Jedi, for some reason rather than pronouncing it 'jed-eye' they pronounced it as though it would rhyme with 'ready'.
my only, very minor, grievance in an otherwise excellently read book.

Returned it
This was very slow and the narrator sounds more like a middle aged woman than the 27 year old character telling this in first person. I couldn’t get into it and returned it
