About this listen
THE ALL NEW NOVEL FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES AND NEW YORK TIMES MILLION-COPY BESTSELLING AUTHOR
A GILMORE GIRLS MEETS SCHITT'S CREEK REDEMPTION ROMCOM
Hazel Hart was a successful romance novelist until a breakup drives her straight into writer's block. Having failed (and failed some more) to deliver her new manuscript, she's hiding from the world behind a wall of old takeout containers until her publisher lays down the law. If she misses her next deadline it's The End.
Desperate for inspiration, Hazel impulse-buys a historic home online and flees Manhattan to tiny Story Lake, PA. Upon her dramatic arrival - involving an incident with a bald eagle - she discovers the charm of her new home may have been slightly exaggerated.
The house is a wreck and the town is struggling after their biggest employer shut down. Also, since her raccoon-infested home came with a seat on the town council our introverted heroine is stuck with a front row seat to all the small-town shenanigans.
But Hazel isn't worried. Not since all six-feet-three inches of grouchy contractor Campbell Bishop slapped a bandage on her forehead and unintentionally inspired the heck out of her. There's only one thing to do: Hire Cam and his equally gorgeous brothers to renovate her new spider museum ... er ... house.
Okay, two things. A fake date for 'research purposes' will really put her work-in-progress on track. Before Hazel knows it, she's writing a romance novel and living one. At least until the drywall dust settles, the town she's falling in love with faces bankruptcy and growly Cam remembers why he can't live happily ever after.
Author's note: This series is my love letter to every reader who said they wanted to move to a fictional town...

I love you Lucy Score
I was going through something personally and had given up reading too. After the knockemout series I downloaded this just to pass time and now I feel like it actually made me laugh. It also cheered me up enough to want to get back into motion .. This book means a lot. Amazing read. A typical Lucy Score sassy read. Also my first ever comment and rating ❤️

Love love love this
My only problem is that I now have to wait for the rest in the series. This was a beautiful book, laughed out loud and tears at times.
Really nice vulnerable parts as well as the cutest small town characters throughout. Loved!

4.5✨
This had me laughing out load, while stuck in traffic. To the point where the person in the lane next me to gave me a look. I think they where jealous because I was having fun, and they where not.

I want to live in Story Lake!
What did I LOVE about this book? Everything! The small town community, the laugh out loud moments, the fact that Hazel and Cam were perfect for each other, the loyalty and support of an amazing best friend and the love within an amazing family … this book just provided all the feels! I’ve been waiting for this to come out for months and it did not disappoint! The narration was immaculate too and the personalities of the main characters were captured perfectly.
I so hope this is the start of a new series - too many amazing characters have been introduced for it not to be!
In sum, absolutely brilliant and another superb book by Lucy Score!

Small town romance at its best
Few do small town romance as well as Lucy. Great laugh out loud banter, crazy animals and found family.

Fantastic!
This is such a heart warming, beautiful, and satisfying story! A true labour of love! I particularly liked that this small town was so very different in every way from Knockemout (which I already loved). So while it's definitely got it's small town quirky charms, there's a very different vibe to both the town and its characters. Both narrators are brilliant, and SebYo is perfection here.

Such A Fun Listen
Hazel is post divorce from her douchey ex and two years into the worst writers block she has ever experienced. On a whim after seeing an article from the small town of Story Lake & realising the deadline to be moved out of the apartment she shared with her ex is 5 days away she purchases a home in said small town and takes of with her best friend/agent Zoey to start fresh and find inspiration. Enter the Bishop brothers, specifically Campbell Bishop, the grumpy contractor who reluctantly becomes Hazel & Zoeys rescuer as they cross into town and is later hired to renovate the home Hazel bought sight unseen that is in worse shape than she expected... if Cam happens to be a source of inspiration in her attempts to write again, then that is just an added bonus, and they absolutely won't go catching feelings or anything. 👀
This has me smiling and laughing out loud 10% in. It is quintessentially Lucy Score, and I had an absolute blast listening to it. Hazel is self-deprecating, sarcastic clutz of a human, and I can relate. Cam is the kind of grumpy cinnamon roll mmc I've come to expect from a Lucy Score read, I enjoyed how the relationship between them developed and the banter/snark was topnotch. The spice was good and didn't overpower the goings on outside of it, the side characters were interesting, funny and (mostly) loveable and Story Lake is the kind of small town I would love to visit. You get strong family bonds with the Bishop clan, and I'm already looking forward to seeing more of that in the following books of this series.
Lila Winters & Sebastian York narrate and are an absolute joy to listen to. They always do such a fantastic job with their performances, and I love their delivery of Lucy's writing. They truly bring the characters and humour to life. If you're looking for a romcom with great humour, small town shenanigans with a sprinkling of spice, then this will tick those boxes. 🌶🌶
