it was a hit!
I decided to give this audibook a listen with my 13-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son, and honestly, it was a hit! The narrator’s upbeat and clear voice made the 90 minutes feel engaging, and both of my kids actually seemed to pay attention. My son, who usually zones out during "serious" topics, was surprisingly interested when the audiobook explained how to manage money from his allowance and even how taxes work. He said, "I didn’t know taxes were so complicated!" My daughter, on the other hand, loved the part about setting goals for saving, and she even started brainstorming what she’d want to save for.
That said, while they both enjoyed it, the style can get a little too playful at times—especially for my son, who’s almost 15. He said, "It feels like it's for younger kids," but still agreed it was useful. Overall, it’s a great intro to financial concepts without being too heavy. I’d recommend it if you're trying to give your teen a basic understanding of money without overwhelming them.

A book my teen actually listened to
I grabbed this for my 14 year old, and it’s been such a good move. The book explains things like saving, budgeting, and even basic investing in a way that actually makes sense to them. They’re starting to think before spending and even talked about setting a goal to save for something big. It’s so cool to see them taking responsibility without me constantly reminding them.

A Great Starting Point for any Teen
This book does an amazing job of breaking down complex financial concepts into simple, relatable lessons that 13- and 14-year-olds can easily grasp. It’s perfect for giving kids a solid foundation in budgeting, saving, and even investing - which is something most of us wish we’d learned sooner!
What stands out is how interactive it is. The real-life examples and activities really help make the lessons stick. I love how it touches on practical skills like managing income from allowances or jobs, plus it introduces bigger concepts like taxes and credit in a way that’s not intimidating.
One thing I wish was done a little differently is the storytelling approach. It’s engaging, but sometimes it feels a bit too childish for older teens. That said, it’s still a fantastic resource.
I think that if you’re looking for a way to teach your teen about money without overwhelming them, this book is exactly what you need. It’s a great starting point for any teen learning about money for the first time, and I highly recommend it.

practical skills for kids at this age
I just finished the book and I must say that I was impressed, as well as hopeful. It is pragmatic in teaching teens financial literacies and enjoyable. Its complex ideas were accessible without any talking down. At many junctures, I had the recurring thought, Wow, this would have really helped if it were something I could have referred to at that stage. The interactive exercises and the real-life scenarios bring out the concepts, making them understandable, seeing how these skills apply in everyday life. Some of the material seemed a bit too basic to me, but I liked the way the book would introduce more advanced topics, such as investing, laying a base for more detailed learning later on. A very valuable thing was how it talked about goals, balancing wants with needs-that is something that especially is very important and a teenager should know. Overall, this book provides a very optimistic view when it comes to the financial independence of teenagers who read books like these and probably even urged me to retry some of my own flawed financial practices.
