Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Some brains, through no fault of their own, pack a bag, turn the lights off and run away to the seaside the moment they are meant to be doing homework, paying bills or not putting the cat in the fridge. These are ADHD brains. I have one and believe they are as common as being left-handed, flat footed or genuinely enjoying anchovies on a pizza.

Undiagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder made my life a frustrating, maddening rollercoaster. I had very little focus except when I was hyper-focusing (and then it would always be on the wrong things), I made the same mistakes over and over again, regularly burning myself out until I was sobbing. When I finally was diagnosed in my 40s it felt like the lights had been turned on after a lifetime in the dark.

Join much-loved comedian Shappi Khorsandi as she looks back on her life through the lens of ADHD and finally makes sense of the chaos. From discovering the joys of shoplifting through to finally understanding her attraction to toxic men, Scatter Brain will have you laughing (and crying) as you find out what it's really like to live a life out of control. Whether you suspect you might have ADHD or you're here to enjoy the ride, let Shappi take you on her hilarious journey of self-discovery where you just might learn something useful about yourself too!

Honest and funny

Probably a better book to hear in her own voice than it would be to read. A very enlightening insight into ADHD. She does comment on a few occasions that “not everyone with ADHD…..” Hers stories are often quite extreme.

Thank you thank you thank you

I got diagnosed with ADHD this year at the age of 40 and have been dealing with the urge to look back at my past and work out how I felt about it. Yes I’m having therapy but hearing this story helped a few more things click into place. Plus it was well written and funny and heart warming. Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant!!

This is a brilliant book full of honest and very personal stories that tell the multifaceted experience of what is it to live with adhd. Already recommended to all of my family, my therapist and psychiatrist, colleagues and friends. In short, this is essential “reading” for anyone living with an adhd brain or has loved ones who have confirmed or suspected adhd. It will help with understanding, will make you feel, you are not alone and that there is help.

Brutally Honest

A brutally honest journey through her battle with ADHD, Quietly amusing in places and you had to feel sorry for those poor souls orbiting around her.

Enlightening, entertaining and a huge help

What a wonderful book, and hearing Shaparak reading her own words was wonderful. My daughter is early on on this journey and so much resonated with me and been a huge comfort and provided sense of direction. Thank you so much for writing this book

"A Journey Through ADHD: Relatable and Helpful"

This book proved to be both relatable and immensely helpful in my personal journey.

As someone who suspects they may have ADHD, I found this book to be a valuable resource in preparing for my upcoming GP appointment. The author's ability to capture the essence of living with ADHD and provide practical insights truly resonated with me.

Thanks to this book, I feel better equipped to communicate my concerns to my doctor. It has given me the confidence to share my suspicions about having ADHD and engage in a meaningful discussion about potential next steps.

Thank you to the author for creating such a valuable resource.
