Critic reviews

"A gritty police procedural, with no-holds barred and a shocking insight to the reality of some. Dark and disturbing, yet exceptionally compelling." (Mel Sherratt, author of Taunting the Dead)

Really enjoyable listen, well thought through plot

This book was narrated well and the reader did a great job of conveying the emotions of the characters. The plot was credible and well thought through. It's a tough topic, but the book didn't linger on the bits that could have been hard to digest. The twist was not entirely unexpected, but was nonetheless well written in. I'd have liked more of an epilogue, but it doesn't detract from an enjoyable book. This one was included in membership, but I've already bought the next one in the series!

struggled to finish

Based around abductions of teenage girls. Wasn't gripped by the characters but maybe I didn't listen to it quickly enough

Gripping, brilliantly narrated

I rarely give reviews but this book was first class . I didn't want the story to end but had to know what happened. The narration was spot on and kept me interested. The story was interesting, current and tense. Can't wait to listen to the next one.

GOOD CRIME THRILLER BUT DIDN’T BLOW ME AWAY

I'm rating this book 3.5🌟. It was a good start to a crime thriller series but I didn't find myself overly invested in the main characters. This could be because they are only just being introduced to the reader and the character development may happen gradually throughout the series. It was by no means a bad book. The case was interesting and I did want to find out how it was solved and what the outcome would be and I will definitely give other books in the series a go.

Gripping story, good narration and stupid people

it was a really good and gripping story maybe not as detailed as I would have liked bit an easy listen.
the narrator is really good apart from when she does men's voices.

Spoiler.
The cop that end up getting killed was incredibly selfish and stupid I really hope we get a nice tie up on that story line in the next one. No sympathy for her but very much for her colleagues and husband.

Small niggles, otherwise good

Good story, quite well written. Small niggles? The narrator constantly pronouncing "had" as "hat" and the author's dreadful habit of using "they were sat" over and over. They were SITTING,not sat !! What are the editors doing ignoring this woeful grammar? But a good listen all the same

Took its time

It felt rushed due to such a slow start and the ending was quite abrupt meaning we didn’t get to hear reasoning etc. overall it was a good listen but took time to get to the point.
