Summary

An original novel based on the acclaimed Star Trek TV series!

The USS Enterprise has been granted the simple but unavoidable honor of ferrying key guests to Betazed for a cultural ceremony. En route, sudden tragedy strikes a Federation science station on the isolated planet Kota, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard has no qualms sending William Riker, Data, and Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher to investigate. But what begins as routine assignments for the two parties soon descends into chaos: Picard, Worf, and Deanna Troi must grapple with a dangerous diplomatic crisis as historic artifacts are stolen in the middle of a high-profile ceremony...while nothing is as it seems on Kota. A mounting medical emergency coupled with the science station’s failing technology - and no hope of rescue - has Doctor Crusher racing against time to solve a disturbing mystery threatening the lives of all her colleagues....

Feels like a lost episode.

Really enjoyed this story and hope Cassandra Rose Clark returns to the Star Trek universe. It genuinely feels like a lost TNG episode to me, both in tone and structure. Very well done indeed.

Interesting story.

As usual the real take away is the narration by Robert Petkoff. I have no idea how he does it, but he does it flawlessly.

Tolerable Star Trek TNG yarn but lacking in wonder

This audiobook had a story that was a bit long winded and a little boring in half of the story namely, the Away team featuring Data, Riker and Crusher. The other half was marginally better.
The audiobook was brilliantly narrated by Robert Petkoff and was a delight to listen to. However the story didn't match up to the narration and was missing the awe and marvel of a great Sci Fi tale.

Meh

The narration was excellent as always with Robert Petkoff but the story was.... weak. It was like 2 average episodes poorly stitched together.

An interesting Star Trek story

An interesting adventure using 2 parallel story lines with their own individual outcomes. It did have a different feel about it from other TNG stories I’ve read. I did enjoy this and definitely worth a listen.

Boring

As a life long Star Trek TNG fan I struggled to get through this book. The plot was incredibly boring and even the excellent narration of Robert Petkoff couldn't save it. I was initially drawn to this book because it is set in series 7 of TNG which made a welcome change from more recent Trek books which are set on the Enterprise E, but I was just so disappointed. I wish I could give a better review as I love finding new Trek audiobooks but I just didn't enjoy this I'm afraid.
