Summary

The ninth novel in the bestselling Jessica Daniel series.

DI Jessica Daniel is not having a good week. Her wallet's been nicked, the refurbished incident room is already falling apart, and a new football-mad constable is driving her crazy.

She also has bigger things on her mind. A student's body has been dumped in a wheelie bin at the back of a university building, with a vague link to an Olympic medallist and a theory that it could have been an induction which went wrong.

There's the tattooed shop raider who has her team stumped; someone attacking lone women; a chief inspector who seems to have a problem with her; and someone putting letters through her front door, insisting that she's caught the wrong man.

Worlds are colliding for Jessica--and, if she's not careful, someone close to her might not make it out in one piece.

Bad luck

I have read lots of Kerry Wilkinson’s books and enjoyed most them. Scarred for Life some what different. It shows that Jessica has got another side. Kind and thoughtful. The author add a bit of humour to it and it more interesting. As for Adam bad luck .

Spoiler

I’m a big fan of both Jessica Daniel & her creator, Kerry Wilkinson so it was doubly shocking to listen to the very end of the book.
I cannot say more, as this would spoil the book for others, however, I am very disillusioned.

What a finish???

I absolutely loved this book. Listened to it straight through. It twisted and turned and and left me open mouthed at the end..

Excellent as usual

I love love love this funny, irreverent and acerbic woman. All the other main characters are well rounded, interesting and well thought out.
A good story, well told.
Narration is excellent as always.

Excellent! Loved it!

Just the right amount of personal stuff mixed in with the detective stuff. The latter keeps you guessing and also lets you feel a bit smug when you work some things out.

Cracking book!

Great police story set in Manchester with a likable detective and other good characters. Narration good, reader sounds like Jo Brand and does the humour well. I plan on getting the next one in the series.

Great characters. Loved it, but . . . . .

Any additional comments?

This is well written with great, well drawn characters. So much so that I found myself rather loving it, despite becoming muddled at as to the role of various suspect male characters. The muddle unfortunately, never resolved. That sort of thing would usually see me abandoning a book and going for a refund, but with this, I still loved it. Funny that!

Excellent

Loved it, the person who reads her books is great, easy to listen too, nice to have a compassionate detective rather than a overly cynical one, excellent story with lots going on rather than just one crime as with many books which is more like real life. Thoroughly recommend.

Another good one

Had been hoping this would be a good story, and I wasn’t disappointed- it is shocking but I can understand why!
