About this listen

Patricia Garret (a.k.a. Pat) and Shirley Martinez are walking their dogs at a park in Beach City, California, when they discover a body. It’s a Santa’s helper from the outdoor shopping mall. Pat’s detective son, Byron, warns the two sleuths to stay out of the investigation, but when the victim turns out to be the boyfriend of Abi, Pat’s niece, they feel they must conduct their own research. As the list of possible motives grows along with the potential suspects, will they find the murderer before anyone else gets hurt...or worse?

It helps to have a good book

The only reason this book gets a four star is because I would have loved if it had been slightly longer, giving us more of the fun. Despite being too short it is a fun, well worked mystery with a number of suspects to keep you guessing. This is my first adventure into Beach City cozy mysteries but I enjoyed it and would visit again. It's a standalone mystery and I had no problems following along, even through there is history and a previous case I missed. I liked the characters who were like able and wacky enough to keep me hooked, I especially liked Pat trying to ground her grown son who wouldn't share any information. Good for a chuckle.
Pat and Shirley take there mischievous puppies to the park for some exercises but get more than just a walk in the process. The dogs find a dead body, it seems Santa is missing an elf. The case is personal for them for the dead man was dating Pat's niece. The pair had big plans, starting with working in the mall, winning a big gaming contest, designing a computer app to make them rich and even the possibility of getting married. Now it up to the three of them to catcher a killer especially has the killer is looking for something and thinks Pat's niece has it.
I liked the narrator. She used different voices for the characters, which helped the story flow along nicely just wished it could have been longer.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
