A lovely listen.
I really love time travel romances set in the Regency period and after reading this book in print I was delighted to listen to the story and enjoy it again in audio.
I always enjoy Melanie Fraser's performances especially anything historical so I was really looking forward to listening to Return to the Regency. Her narration is excellent and I was immediately drawn in to the story. The range of characters were performed very well, my favourite of course being Catherine and Chris. I plan to enjoy listening to this book again on holidays.
I have read many of Audrey Harrison's traditional Regency romances. I was excited when she decided to write a time travel piece.
I loved the twist to her time travel story. Where this book differs from other Regency time travel is the possibility for her characters to freely travel back and forth between the Regency period and the present day. I liked that Catherine didn't have to leave her friends and family behind permanently in order to have a grand, romantic adventure in Regency Bath.
There is plenty of excitement and drama as Catherine soon finds herself caught up in the affairs of new friends and the target of a fortune hunter. I loved the characters that populated Regency Bath.
I thought Catherine and Chris made a lovely couple and I really felt for them when things took a dramatic and emotional turn when their time in the Regency period came to an end. The conclusion to their story was very romantic and it left me with a smile on my face.

Regency modern romance - funny, smelly and
A little fairy godmother magic, a little time travel, a little romance, a little humour... that is the general essence of this book.
Catherine is a 40 year old woman and mother of two teenagers. She has recently suffered two life-altering changes to her life, the loss of her mother and being divorced from her cheating husband. Circumstances find her going to Bath alone for the 2 week Christmas market where she meets Chris. They share a lot of interests but most importantly both have been selected to travel through time to Regency Bath.
I really enjoyed how Audrey Harrison is unapologetically realistic in her depiction of Regency England. Most Regency romances paint a rosy picture. Audrey is all about the muck filled roads, metal patten shoes to traverse the muck, body odour under layers of clothing, extremely heavy sauces to mask food that was off, wood and bristle tooth brushes, and so on. Despite the reality of the situation, there is plenty of romance and even a little bit of Regency style kidnapping and intrigue involved.
And what do you get when you toss a modern woman into historical England? Well, she isn't a wilting flower and certainly stands up for herself and her friends. Personally I like strong, yet vulnerable, female characters.
Audrey Harrison delivers the promised HEA with plenty of fun and entertainment on the journey there.
