Hard work

I really thought I was a Queen fan but this book proves I’m not a mega fan at least. At times it’s just a list of facts read out in an Alan Partridge homage performance. Disappointed.

Quite Good

Narrator kept slipping in to an Australian accent that annoyed me. Of course it’s an interesting story but it was about record sales and awards rather than the emotional stories behind these incredible and legendary pop stars. I’d have preferred more geeky details
I did enjoy it however

Great review

I like that it wasn't just about Freddie, it's also a fairly good look back to society in the 60:s to the 90:s... overall A+

Hagiography in nasal antipodean

Despite its length, this is a hurried passage through the history of a fascinating band. There is little of the insight or refreshing honesty of Mark Blake's excellent A-Z. Instead we skip across the timeline with little sense of who these four remarkable individuals are. What could have been a merely inconsequential listen becomes downright grating after about 20 minutes due to the delivery of the narrator. With his clanging vowels and hurried but hushed delivery, he sounds like should be the drivetime DJ on Neighbours FM. Irritating.

Dry as dust

If you like endless dates and lists and next to no meat on the bones of what went on behind the scenes then this is the book for you! There’s little colour in this telling of the history of the band & the only reason I’ve given it two stars (rather than none) is a) the narrator does a solid job of trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear & b) someone obviously worked hard collecting & collating all the endless dates cited. But even if you are a diehard fan, I’m not sure you’d find anything here to get the pulse racing.

Great reference book but......

If you like the sound of someone reading lists this is an audio book for you.
I've been a fan of Queen since 1974. Was looking forward to hearing the whole story, if only to confirm what I already knew. I was hoping for some more insight or inside gossip even. No such luck. This is a comprehensive diary of the bands releases and concerts. As a listen it's simply boring.
